Last month, I went to the store to buy a scale. I didn’t want a fancy chmancy one, just a good old regular scale to weigh myself and luggage. As expected, I walked up to the aisle and saw a multitude of products that could do a myriad of things. But I could not find one that didn’t use batteries. It took me at least a good ten minutes and I finally found one in a corner bottom shelf.

This made me realise that we often buy things that use batteries or that we need to plug in when there is no real need for it. For those who didn’t know, batteries are a great source of pollution. Reusable  batteries are better but they do have a life spand and also finish in the bin.

So, I must ask, do we need all these battery consumming gadgets? Do we really need the electric pepper grinder, the electric toothbrush, the electric face washer (I saw an add on this site and I’m not really sure what it is?!?!!), the electric scale?

With this in mind, I decided to be extra careful with what I choose to use that consummes electricity and especially batteries. It’s just another tiny step in respecting and preserving our beautiful world.
