I hate wallpaper and am having the hardest time getting it off the walls. In the bathroom of the house I recently bought had a lot of wall paper. First off I don’t think they primed the drywall before slapping on paper. Then they painted over the paper in spots. Then papered over that twice. I have tried a steamer, scorer, hot water, hot water with fabric softener, wall paper remover stuff, and now I am down to nubs on my fingernails.
HELP!!!!!!

    • Steam slowly. It’s a pain in the *** but it’ll work. You’ll probably have to use a good scraper & scrape off the rest. Or, get a sanding block or electric sander & that will cut your work in half. Sand in circular motions if you go that route.

If I were closer, I’d be happy to be hired! I like doing stuff like that.

    • I’m in agreement with BB.  After I’ve tried my hand at something and I don’t succeed I call in the PROFESSIONALS!

Seems to me you’ve given it your best.

      much love

    • I feel your pain Vikki.  I’ve been there.  My husband and I bought a fixer upper in 2005 and it had wallpaper in both bathrooms and the kitchen.  We did everything you did, but the steamer was the one that finally worked.  I told him that if we ever decide to buy another old house if we walked in and saw wallpaper, we would walk out and keep looking at other houses.

    • At this point I no longer have fingernails. I scrape daily on bits and pieces. I think I will put this off until after the holidays. I was looking forwards to a sense of accomplishment. However the wallpaper has won this battle.
