It’s funny..not ever in my life did I think I would drive a taxi for a living.

It’s been very interesting I must say. Not boring that’s for sure. I meet all kinds of people every day.
I was very, very, nervous my first day of driving. Luckily, I was communicating with my husband with our cell phones. Which made it easier.

I have always been a very quiet person. Not much words to say a lot times. Which, I believe, has put people off. But driving taxi you are forced into a situation where you must talk. And talk I have learned. You kind of learn little phrases to say in response.
Some people say a little bit but they are only being polite. And you can sense that, they only made a bit of small talk but don’t really want to say anything more. Which is fine by me.
But I have learned to think faster, talk faster, my mind works faster. Another thing I am amazed at about myself is that my memory has improved! Finding addresses, now when I hear an address I know where it is automatically.
But there are still some places I still must refer to my map. Our city is growing so new addresses pop up once in a while.
About interesting people...I met Debbie Reynolds! She is beautiful! Tiny, quiet lady. Thats how she was at the airport anyways. I saw her on a show the next day. She sure wasn’t quiet! She was funny!
So taxi driving....out of all the jobs I ever worked at all my life...taxi driving is my most favorite. I love driving for one. Meeting new people. Going out everyday...now that Spring is coming I look forward to my day!!!
Have a great day everyone!!!

    • That’s great!  Reminds me of that show HBO used to have on called “Taxi Cab Confessions“.  Ever see it?  They had camera’s in the car’s and the thing’s people would fess up to!  Especially the one’s getting in the cab at 2:30 in the morning.  Too funny!  Your fortunate that you really like your job, good for you.happy

    • Hi Angelcart...Thank you for the comment. Yes! I used to watch that show Taxi Cab Confessions. Though, none of that stuff has happened to me...I’ve had lots of strange people in my cab but wasn’t that in New York. My city is not like that! LOL!! And I don’t work 2:30 am. Its not safe..my kids and husband need me home. But I still love my job! Have a great day!!

    • Sounds fascinating I get cabs everywhere in London as they can drive down the bus routes - plus nothing beats a big black London cab and the cab drivers here are mines of information - great with tourists knowing all the historic facts.

In London the cabbies have to do a very specialist test which takes about a year it’s called the Knowledge and they have to know all the streets, alleys , roads and avenue and landmarks
