Long hair or short hair?

I ask myself the same question every 40 days; do I change my hairstyle? Can I keep my long hair?

How many women in the real world have long hair at my age?  Do you have long hair?

I see the celebrities with long hair and it looks so beautiful, I know I know they have stylist and they have the money to get hot oil treatments on a regular basis.  There has to be a way for me to keep my long hair and manage it.  A home remedy or some age old secret   remedy that someone's grandmother or great aunt passed down from generation to generation.

Please help me..

Do you have long hair?
Do you have a secret for great looking hair?

Let me know!

    • I have hair almost to my waist.  And it’s very healthy.  I have a couple co-workers who can’t figure out why my hair is so healthy and theirs is so nasty looking.  I never use a blow dryer or curling iron on it. I will only color it if I can get ammonia free products and I spend a bundle on conditioner.  Plus, I have a fairly healthy diet which makes a big difference.

Cut it just because I’m over 40??  NO WAY!!! That crap about how women over 40 shouldn’t wear long hair is a myth started by hair stylists who wanted more business.

    • I too have long hair and I love mine as well. Super Omega-3 has always been my BFF, and I LOVE salmon and other rich fatty acid fish! ;)

    • I have long hair and sometimes I contemplate if I should have short hair.  Somehow all of my friends, male and female, prefer me to have long and I am fine with that.  This way, I can flip and play with it.  Sometimes, if I like it short, all I have to do is to put a single chopstick or a pencil to tie it up.

I use expensive shampoo and when I put conditioner on, I put my hair in shower cap for over 15 minutes before I rinse that off.  My hair seems fine and healthy except I am growing my WHITE.

    • Chinadoll, please tell me how to put my hair up using a pencil or chopstick.  Any time I wear my hair up, it seems to take me all morning plus a lot of hairpins and things to get it to stay up.

That’s hogwash; hair and nails are dead skin anyway, keeping it short means the hairdressers keep making money. My grandmother had very long hair, and she used Vaseline on hers at night, braiding it up and tying it down. I can’t do that, petroleum jelly tends to dry on me.

I  have a blow dryer, hot comb, curling iron and ceramic plate thingie. Don’t use them because my hair doesn’t like heat, makes it brittle. I like to mix different brands of shampoos and conditioners like Garnier Fructis with Pantene or Clairol Herbal Essences. I use a clarifying shampoo to take out some of the gunk I use during the week and a conditioner that I leave on for about 10 minutes usually with olive oil or avocado. I don’t dye my hair either, my gray hair is what I call ‘silver threads of wisdom.’ I use chopsticks (I need two because my hair is thick) or plastic clamps to keep it out of my face, never rubber bands or metal berettes because they break off the hair.
