      I consider myself a moderate, liberal on some issues conservative on others, however, I personally felt compelled to sign a campaign pledge sponsored by Emily's List, one of the largest political action committees dedicated to electing pro-choice female Democrats.
      The “Sarah Doesn't Speak For Me” campaign, is designed to counter Sarah Palin's influence in the upcoming mid-term elections.
      Her Tea Party non-tolerance rhetoric frightens me.  I am shocked that she and other Tea Party leaders continue to encourage protests against not only the Ground Zero Mosque but also against law-abiding peaceful US Citizens who, because they are Muslim, are suddenly suspected of being terrorists. My children and I rallied in support of a local Islamic Center 2 weeks ago and we were horrified by the hateful & harmful words spewed by “Christians”  

      Christians, Jews, Muslims worship the same God.

      I am a Christian and I believe I have a duty to promote peace by setting an example of compassion and unity in my own community.

      I trust most women, like me, honestly respect each other.
      I am new to this site - I simply meant let’s be nice heart

    • Frankly, I don’t think the folks in power are listening, and that’s much more upsetting.

      From the mosque, to healthcare reform, to immigration, the federal gov’t currently is ignoring the wishes of the majority.

      That’s much scarier than the words of a bunch of political pundits, don’t cha think?

      Feel free to share your opinion on here. Annie was right in all she said about we do have opposing points of view on here and we do have some heated debates. But we won’t put up with attacks on each other.

      I too support strong women who can be leaders. I want more women in those roles. However I did draw the line with Ms Palin. Unlike Annie I don’t even like listening to her....she grinds my nerves for some reason.

      As for the Mosque, if you listened to what was said regarding it, The President is not endorsing it because he agrees with it. He is endorsing as it would be against the law to not allow it due to religion. And then there would be another way to condemn him.

      Anon, no one is saying she does not have a right to speak, they are saying not to follow her extremist views. She can talk all she wants, I just make sure I turn the channel.

      Dear Anon we weren’t giving anyone a hard time on their point of view. Like you we ate all entitled to our opinions. And I don’t believe anyone said Palin couldn’t talk. I would have loved to support her but somehow she didn’t impress me while campaigning with McCain. Now I do realize she was thrown into that situation and may not have been prepared. Ok that’s fine! Maybe if I had a chance to see her speak before the election I would feel differently.
      I’m always open to facts!

      This issue has nothing to do with the current President.
      It does have everything to do with upholding the ideals
      upon which America was founded.
      It’s amazing to me how often The Declaration of Independence and the US Constitution have been, and are still being, used to bolster the marginalization of
      society.  

      We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men (and women!) are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.

      These documents uphold the very structure of our government.

      While we may have different political and religious views - after all isn’t our diversity the essence of America?

      No matter which political party assumes power, I have respect for the office of the President of the USA
      and the entire administration.  

      The only time I want to hear “anarchy” is when listening
      to a gone but not forgotten punk rock icon who was singing about anarchy in the UK! LOL estatic

      Have you seen the “mama grizzly” campaign video released by Sarah Palin’s PAC?
      I believe she’s been using the phrase since May but she’s been gaining momentum.
      The ad seems very presidential if you know what I mean
      Even bad press is good press, right?
      You know what creeps me out?
      Sarah Palin has shot and killed the real mama grizzlies she’s comparing
      herself to!
