It has come to my startled attention that I am not 25 anymore. That revelation occurred one week ago today when I missed a step on the stairs while carrying a heavy donations box, resulting in a severely sprained ankle.  tongue out  Now all I can think is, what a supreme dumb-ass I was. First, I was walking down the stairs in the dark, which anyone with an IQ of at least 80 knows is wrong. Second, I stubbornly carried the box myself, even though my strong fiance was in the house.  I just wanted to get the job done already, after a day of cleaning/decluttering. So here I sit, incapacitated and still unable to walk without crutches, until the cows come home.  Which will be in 6-8 weeks, according to most online medical reports.  Sigh.

    • Hey- at least you have a big, strong fiance to help you through this and you were trying to do the right thing collecting for charity.  Hope you feel better soon.

    • Sorry to hear about your sprained ankle.

I am sure the doc has already told you this...

Recovery might be a little faster if you use an ace wrap or ankle compress thing that you can prolly find at a dollar store or pharmacy, use ice 20 minutes every hour, keep it elevated and take advil or Motrin every 4 hours.Keep using at least one crutch so as not to put too much weight on it.

I hope you have a quick recovery.

    • I too have sprained my ankle badly. It first happened 2 yrs ago, and never healed before I did it again on stairs, and again slipping on ice. In 2 yrs, I have been in pain with it, I am going to physical therapy and have had xrays and a MRI. Not sure if it will heal at this point.

Make sure you do what the Dr. tells you , if you want to get better, hope it works for you...

    • Finally someone confirmed my IQ of 80 because I walk down the stairs in the dark all the time!  LOL  Think maybe now I’ll start flipping the light on but probably not.
