Hello everybody.

It was suggested to me I should write a blog and introduce myself to everyone. So here it goes.estatic

My name is Didra and I’ll be turning 40 this year. I don’t feel like I’m going to be 40 at all so this birthday is not bothering me. I just figure it’s a huge milestone so I really need to do something fun.  I still have 5 more months to decide how to celebrate this new journey in my life. Maybe I can get some awesome ideas from you wonderful ladies.

The dog in the picture with me is my puppy Bella.  She’s the first dog I’ve ever owned because my mom does not like animals. I absolutely adore her. Never thought I would be one of those people who treats her dog more special then her own child but it’s true. I love my Bella.  We adopted her from an animal shelter when she was 8 weeks old. It has been fun and challenging raising our puppy. That picture is the day she graduated from obedience school.

I have a 15 yr old son. He’s awesome! Well most of the time he’s awesome. The other times he’s your typical teenager. The teenage years have not been fun at all. We have had some major challenges but all in all, he’s a great kid.

I’ve been a single mother since my son was 5 1/2 months old. When he was 3 yrs old I decided to go back to school and earn my degree. It took me 6 1/2 yrs but I finally earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Management. After I graduated from school my son started asking for a step father. I never really dated much during the years of raising my son, going to school and working full-time. I was too busy. Once I finished school and obtained a great paying job, I had finally run out of excuses not to date. So I entered the world of on-line dating. After going on a few dates with men I met, I was lucky to meet a wonderful man on Match.com.

We met in December of 2009. Our romance moved extremely fast that it made all of our heads spin. We moved in together in June of 2010. As with everything, things were wonderful at first and then we faced the challenges of merging 2 families. He has 2 children from a previous marriage. A 14 yr old son and an 11 yr old daughter. They are great kids but I’m not going to lie and say everything is perfect. Luckily, we are still together working through the challenges. Not easy to do with 2 teenagers and a tween but we‘re trying. Add to the mix a puppy and it’s a busy household. So it will be interesting to see what the future will hold for me and my new family.

Nice to meet all the beautiful women of Fabulously 40.

    • WELCOME Didra! It’s so awesome to meet you and have you here with us on Fab40! Bella is sooo adorable!! You are right, it’s hard to believe we can love our fur family sooo much. I adopted a yellow lab myself from a shelter and this boy rules! It seems he can do no wrong. LOL!

Again, so awesome to have you on board. And thanks for sharing a piece of your life with us.

      Hugz,
      Rose heartestatic

    • Great 1st post!!!!!

Ok so most days I do LOVE my cats more than I love my family. They require so little yet give so much. While the family there are just days......

BTW my family knows I love my cats more estaticestaticestaticestatic

The blending of families is hard. I did that over 17 years ago. Ours were all younger so you are facing some hard challenges with their ages. My only suggestion would be for you and your hubz to never disagree about them in front of them.

      Welcome to Fab40!

Looking forwards to more posts from youheart

    • Thanks for the advice Vikki. That is one thing we have done well so far. Keep our arguments and disagreements away from the kids. Not always easy.

I’m glad to hear I’m not the only one who tends to love her fur family more. I love my family but my Bella is just too adorable. She can do no wrong either...lol.

    • Welcome to Fab 40 & Over, Didra. I have 2 fur babies that I love dearly. There’s my old wolf dog (70% wolf) I raised from a pup and our happy, nutty medium size companion dog that I also raised from a pup that’s 3 years old now but still acts like a puppy with his enengy and playfulness.

Hope you enjoy your time here with us!

    • Welcome!  I love your cute little dog!  I can relate to the teenager thing as I have a 16 year old daughter.  We have our good days and our not-so-good days.  With my fur babies heart(cats) every day is a good day (unless they‘re sickfrown)
