Can you really achieve a balanced life? Are we striving for something that is just an illusion? Is our pursuit of balance causing us more stress?

That is a subject I was talking about when I was interviewed by a writer from Today’s Parent Magazine.

As a coach who has been supporting women in finding balance, it is a subject I am fascinated and passionate about. So, is balance possible? My short answer is “yes” and my long answer is, “it depends”.

balance

Women CAN achieve and live a balanced lifestyle. If this is true, then why are so many of us still struggling?

That is where; “it depends” comes into the picture. It depends on your definition of balance. It depends on if you are striving for perfection as a way of feeling balanced. It depends if you are looking at someone else’s seemingly perfect life and trying to achieve that. It depends on if your expectations are realistic for your present situation. It depends on if you believe you can achieve a balanced life.

Many women do not know what they are really seeking when they search for that balance. Some think more time would allow them to feel balanced. For others, maybe a different career choice. Some are waiting for the kids to grow up .Some are waiting to have kids. Some are waiting to quit their jobs so they can stay home with their children. Some are waiting to find a job so they can get away from their children!

The bottom line is, we are always WAITING for something to bring us balance. We often define balance as in reaching that perfect destination where everything will fall into place. The problem is that we are always searching for that destination. We will continue to search until we realize that balance is within. Balance is a feeling, not a destination. There are people in all different situations in their life. Some feel balanced, some don’t. Some live similar lifestyles and feel totally different about their circumstances.

So what is the key to balance? Ask yourself that question today and email me at [Link Removed] with your thoughts. Stay tuned next month and I will share what I believe is the key to balance.
