I have a desk upstairs right now that is downright frightening. It’s so cluttered I don’t know if I can find a place for everything on it. But, you have inspired me to tackle it this afternoon and so that is what I will do.

It takes your focus off the “mess” which equals work, and enables you to focus on your priorities/creativity/necessities. I’m a huge advocate for decluttering. We put our house on the market a couple of years ago and learned the importance of decluttering, organizing and maintenance. The 20-30 min. 2xs per week you spend makes the task managable and then you don’t have so much to do when you need to clean up or prepare for company or utilizing your spaces for special projects.

    • Thanks Yana!  Another area besides my desk that I need to unclutter is my email account.  Once I get that cleaned up, I feel so much more organized.

It is energizing once you get your workspace cleaned up—thanks Yana!

    • @astridmoral I just finished painting a huge piece, I think it’s 40 by 90

I don’t paint in my office, I took  over kids playroom, or what it used to be many years ago. Now it’s time for me to play estatic

@cholatier Cynthia, funny you should ask, I had to do 7 takes, Stoli managed to get his bark in every time, thank god for editing software.

@termagsea Judy, I can fly down there and kick you butt, if that will get you going estatic

@darlenesabella  Dear Darski, Trust me when I tell you I don’t move that fast either

@whammy  I try not to go to bed unless all  my emails are in order, sometimes when I don’t it gets overwhelming the next day and screws up my work flow.

It’s all about consistency. I always lived by my TO DO LIST, but now I can’t function without it. It’s this fabulous condition called “Fabulously40 and Beyond”

Wouldn’t be great if we had the power to fast-forward ourselves in real life estatic

It will take me more than 20 minutes but that’s the price I’ll have to pay for letting it get as out of control as I have.

You’ve lit that spark though - Thanks!

I’ll start with the pile I have sitting on my shredder to be shredded. happy

    • Hi There,

Thank you for the message and for the video.
I personally can not stand clutter. It just makes me so nervous to have messes around it creates bad discipline and terrible habits when one continues on in life and could create problems down the line.

Reminds me of the television program called ‘Hoarders’ Yikes!!
It is reality folks how people live like this in such filth.

I do that once a week to my desk because that the place were you just throw things whether it be bills, magazine, stuff, it just goes there and I shut the door.
But living with a pack rat sorry to say my mother it has taught me if you don’t use throw it. That goes with everything in my life, clothes, shoes, anything.
I’m like you if it disorganized I just can’t think.

I now have a sparse but wearable wardrobe and I also am now half way through all the filing and shredding so sometimes you need to see other folk do stuff before you get motivated.

    • Cute video Yana!

This has been my thing this year - to be clutter free! I have thrown or given away everything I don’t use. I have a reminder in my kitchen that says 30 mins!  That means I clean at least 30 mins a day regardless.  I go through my mail every day and trash/shred what I don’t won’t immediately so that I won’t be overwhelmed by a pile of mail. I even got rid of old mismatched dishes etc so that everything can be nice and neat and organized. I also bought some really stylish boxes from The Container Store that I put all important papers in, as well as organized by computer armoire files, etc.  Staying clutter free is a great feeling!! A nice habit to have!

    • I live by the de-clutter your mind rule !!  If you have to look at clutter on your desk or in your house your mind is distracted by it.....I love the freedom of just having the things I need and truly love around me.  Once you can lose the guilt attached to something someone gave you being put away it feels great.  I created special boxes in my attic for all those special things you cant throw but want to keep and somehow that makes me feel less guilty about not having them in view !!  Great video and loved the music !
