Is it me, or has good customer service gone to the dogs?  I realize we are in a economic crisis, however has it gotten so bad that businesses are having to settle for second had help?  I am just mortified by the way customers are treated in stores today.  When I started working many years agoestatic a clerk would not dare speak to customers the way they speak today.

Not only do the employees speak to you rough, but the managers do too!

In my store there are times when customers can be a handful, but I have to tell myself, “It’s nothing personal, they‘re just upset.” So I allow them to vent, and then I explain what I can do for them, and if that is not enough, I get someone in a higher salary brackent than mineestatic

Anyway, is it just me or has good customer service gone to the dogs?

    • There certainly seems to be a shift in the last several years regarding what customer service is.  During these tough economic times customer service is critical in setting yourself apart from the competition.  Managers would be wise to spend some time teaching and coaching employees to provide the best possible experience for their customers and clients.

There are still a few good examples of companies that embrace this philosophy though they are harder to find.

    • I agree alot of “customer service” is just plain awful.  Some border on disrespectful.  And the customer is no longer “always right.”

    • No Helen it’s not you - you‘re right about the condition of customer service today. One would think it would be so different with the way we can go to the internet and write a review of just about anything. I read reviews before I make decision on where to stay, where to eat, what stores to shop in.

    • It has truly gone to the dogs, the cats and everything else that is not good, whenever I have a bad experience with customer service I call the corporate offices or write an email telling them of the bad experience and give their store number and the employee’s name if possible, I feel with me spending my money withthat company and part of my money pays their salary then I should get better service I have ZERO tolerance for bad customer service.
