Jim Atkinson passed away Thursday evening at Fox Chase Cancer Center, Philadelphia, PA. It was a long and tough battle for him. It has been a very difficult week for the whole family, but Jim is at peace now, no longer fighting the battle.
Jim was my brother-in-law for 27 years..we all shared many happy, sad, joyous occasions. There were the times of so much fun...he and his wife would host annual Halloween parties back in the 80’s, there were family vacations, birthday parties, holidays.
I grew up with Jim, so to speak, as I was just a young kid of 22 when I moved here. He was not only brother to Bob, but his friend. They shared so much together as kids, then later as adults.
There is a great sense of loss, as I mentioned to Bob, that a part of me feels gone. For the past 1 1/2 years, all the siblings were hosting game night at each others’ homes, so we could keep in touch, share a laugh, since everyone’s schedules were so hectic..we had fun!!
I prayed for Jim for five years, now he is at peace!
I will never forget you Jim, I love you.![]()

May the Lord grant you and your family his peace at this time, I shall keep you all in my prayers.
"As you open the door to new relationships and remove the chain from your own fears, God will overwhelm you with new splendor."
May the Lord give you and your family comfort at this most difficult time, Mary
Thank you my friends..we are all exhausted. The viewing/funeral is on Tuesday, so it will be a sad day. Jim is being cremated and put to rest in a veteran memorial cemetery.
Mary, just now read this. So sorry for your family’s loss. Must be very, very difficult for you all. Sending hugs.
