About 2 weeks ago I took an unofficial challenge and tried to cut down on time spent with the computer, TV, and cell. It’s really hard to do. But I was able to do it.

I have been dvr-ing most of the shows I watch and will fast forward thru the commercials. I also have been doing some small workouts while watching those shows. My arms should look great by next summer (which starts in April here).

I joined sparkpeople.com and have been actually tracking my meals, water and fitness (i do alot of this from my touch ipod since I didn’t cut music out).

I have been exercising more, talking to people on the regular phone more and I actually have written a few letters and postcards. I also have cleaned out all the closets and put up some clothes for summer. There is much that gets done when you step away from the TV and computer. However I do love my sports so I do watch them. If I can’t get them on the TV then I watch on the computer. I also love the friends I have on Fab40, FB and SP. So I can’t completely walk away from the computer. Also I have some family and friends that the only way to reach them is thru the computer.

I have been on a personal journey for the past year or so. I was so busy hydroplaning thru life that I about lost me. So I have been working on finding out who I am, what I like to do, what I don’t like and so on. I can’t say that I am done on this journey...are we ever? But since I’m actually AWARE of the journey it makes it so much more interesting.

Are you on a journey? Have you discovered anything about you that you didn’t know was there before?

    • I love that you shared this with us, Vikki. I think it’s our age. I know a lot of women go through a type of metamorphosis around middle age. I thing it’s wonderful. And this site is also wonderful for that. We are all in the same place so we can support one another, we can share in one another’s journey. Thank you so much for including us in this. You‘re a very special person. I’ve always felt that.

    • Love you, Vicki. I hope you‘re enjoying Memphis, and I wish I could come and visit both you and my aunt. Have a great Saturday, and I’ll be seeing you more of SparkPeople. Thanks for getting me motivated again.

    • Vikki I am glad I read this blog because you are inpsiring me to get my act together. I spend way too much time in front of the computer and tv and because of that I tend to neglect other things in my life...like eating right and exercising. The past few days I have been realizing that this needs to change because I’m not liking the way I feel. I have also joined sparkpeople.com but haven’t spent much time trying to figure out the site. So thank you for posting this blog...and thank you for helping me get motivated! estatic

    • I didn’t used to spend very much time on the computer at all, but recently I find myself retreating to it more and more.  I don’t really do much on it.  I do not like the popular social networking sites.  I mostly shop, look things up that I’m curious about, shop, visit fab40, and shop some more.  : )  I know I’m going to have to get a handle on computer time soon, but I’m not sure when I’ll start trying very hard.
