I was sent an invite on Facebook to join a group. The group was calling for a petition to remove a group praying for Obama’s death.

Now I know there are some that really don’t like President Obama and everything he stands for. But really! Do you actually pray for his death? What is wrong with people? Do you really think his death will make the USA better? Does it make you a better person to be so hateful against another? And what about oxymoron of praying/death in the same sentence.
Come on now!
I don’t care what your politics are this is just awful!!!!

I also was sent a joke by a southern republican friend ( we always have pleasant banter on our opposing views) that went something like this:
A crazed Muslim was coming at you with a gun what do you do?
Democrat: Thinks, trys to resolve, asks for opinions, protects family with his own life and hopes family will be ok
Republican: Pulls out gun...BANG
Southerner: Pulls out gun..... BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG..... reload.....BANG BANG BANG BANG...... 9 yr old daughter pulls out gun......BANG BANG BANG!!!

Now I do have a sense of humor and even chuckled at this. But when I add it to the FB group invite it made me think some thoughts.

REALLY???? Is this what we have become?  Now I don’t believe that Republican, Democrats or even Southerners are bad people. What I will say tho is this really the image and impression that we should be teaching our children? Is this what the USA has came to?

It totally disgusts me!! And yes I do lean more towards Democrat than Republican but I NEVER wished harm to President Bush or any other member of the RNC.

    • Vikki, you are so right!  What are people thinking?  Death, guns, killing - is that the way to solve problems?  Sadly in today’s world, after everything we went through with 9-11, people believe that violence is the answer.

However, we can do something.  As members of a group, we can continue to spread good and come up with positive solutions.  It doesn’t matter if you‘re a Democrat, Republican or some other political group, we can be the positive change that is necessary.  Continuing to spread positive to our families, friends and colleagues.  Without a touch of sanity, it all turns insane.

Vikki, you are the one who is always doing good.  You have 21 days of Pay It Forward.  You are always looking for goodness.  Keep doing what you‘re doing.  It will be a force that others will see and walk with you.

    • Funny you should mention this... I was just thinking about this very thing recently... I get a lot of ... pardon the expression... Obama bashing crap... and I’m getting really tired of it... I was not of fan of his before... but he is our president and like it or not he is our hope out of the troubles in this country... and I think these emails... articles... blogs are counter productive... groups calling for his death are scary... I agree with you... what is wrong with these people!

I chuckled at your joke too until I got to the 9 year old part... there are just some things that shouldn’t be joked about.... it’s just sick... and you‘re right... if we can’t control ourselves as adults... what are we teaching the kids out there... we are nurturing future Timothy McVeighs that believe violance is the answer... just sick!

I lean toward the conservative side on most things but I do have liberal views on a number of subjects... I follow my conscience... Democrat or Republican.. it doesn’t matter.. I never wish harm to anyone... why can’t we just talk about things and respect opposing views?... our politicians don’t really behave very well and now I see it more and more with the every day man on the street.

      It really is sad.

    • You have to consider the sources and it might make a little more sense of why those type of people say such ridiculous things!

    • I lean a little closer to the Democrat side also.
I believe that no matter how one might feel about the President of the United States, we, as americans should respect and stand behind him 100%. That doesn’t mean that we agree with everything he stands for.
“He is the President of the United States.”
Violence, sign’s on the side of the road, the disrespect shown openly every day makes us a very weak country.
Organize your beliefs, your groups and fight for them in a way that leaves room for compromise. All these protest don’t have to be so ugly.

    • Didn’t they say similar things about President Bush?

I agree President Obama is our Commander and Chief at this time, he does have a lot of ideas that our out of the box thinking and I respect him for that. I don’t think there is a whole lot of Republican or Democrats out of that little bubble they have put themselves into to, to actually think if you ask me.

I just wish people in this country would think out side the box, that way maybe some good ideas would come out of it.

      My two cents....estaticestatic

    • I can respect both sides of the coin, do people with an odd sense of humor post stupid things, sure you see it all the time..on the flip side, should any public official or any human for that matter have death threats made against them, absolutely not..we live in an ever changing world, either we keep up or we clam up, and for myself I vote for the former.happy
