Today in NC it is a beautiful Spring day(finally). So my husband and I decided to have some friends over for a little cookout. Of course, the guys wanted to be in charge of the grill(great!!!!!!!!!!!!). So I’m thinking that while the guys are outside laughing, drinking, and grilling, that I could catch up with my Fab40 ladies. Finally I get signed in and am just about caught up on what’s going on, when in comes one of my friends asking what am I doing. I tell her that I am just messing around on the computer and she sees the Fab40 site. Of course, she starts asking questions about the site. So when I finally see that I’m not gonna be able to catch up at this moment, I sign out. Once I’m signed out, she starts asking more questions. Then she asks me “why am I keeping secrets from her“? I share a lot of stuff with her, but I just wanted to be able to have something just for me. She is quiet a bit younger than me(she’s 36, I’m 41).She was very upset and decided to leave early because she thinks that I’m not including her in my life. After everybody left, I was discussing the problem with my husband and he was telling me not to worry about it, that I deserve to have something that’s just for me. Now, my question is do you think that I am wrong for not telling my friend about the Fab40?

    • This is your great escape. She should respect the fact that you don’t have to share every aspect of your life with her.

    • No, you aren’t wrong. Besides, you can tell her she simply needs to be 40 or older to be able to participate.
      Everyone deserves their own something.
      Jenni- hahahahahaha!  lolololol....

    • She must either be a pretty close friend or she has boundary issues to intrude on you like that!

If she is a close friend, I can understand how she would feel hurt that you wouldn’t let her know what you were doing. Of course you are entitled to your privacy, but I would have just said, “Oh, just a website for women over 40.” that would have excluded her right away. People tend to blow things out of proportion when they think someone is “hiding” something from them.

    • Your friend is how old? Was it 3 or 6? I’ve dealt with Thingsimilar types of “friends” with similar issues. When grown women act like that, it reminds me of grade school. Then again, you have the adults who just have jealously issues and also everything has to be about them. I said GROW THE H—- up. I personally wouldn’t waste my breathe or time discussing her (taking her toys and going home) leaving early because it’s so childish it’s best to ignore unless she brings it up. Maybe she realized how childish it was and will be too embrassed to mention it. Well, if your lucky!!! Good Luck

    • Sorry, but here’s the first thought that comes to my mind: What were you doing on the computer when you had company over?  Of course your friend was curious about what you were doing! You‘re supposed to be entertaining guests, she comes looking for you and you‘re on the computer!?!

Wanting to do what you are doing is a compliment, not an insult. Wanting to be like you is a compliment and wanting to be included is normal.

Wanting your privacy is completely normal too but YOU are the one that opened up the door to Fab40. She’d have never known about it if you hadn’t been “caught” Fab-handed.

Sent with love and compassion, kelly

    • You are absolutely right, lips!  And when I was reading the entry where she mentioned she had guests and was on the computer, THAT was my first thought.  I meant to comment on that, but you did so well.

So, Stephanie.  What do you say?  Hmmmmmmmm?

    • My friend and her boyfriend were already at my house when we decided to invite some more people over . I should have been a little bit more clear on everything.Anyway, she called today and she apologized and I explained The Fab40 site to her and she said that she understood. Maybe she was just having a bad day yesterday.
