estatic   In my last blog, I wrote that I wanted a Kindle 2.  Well for mother’s day, I got me one.  Yes, you read that right, “I” got “me” one!   I told my husband what I wanted, informed him that it was expensive, but I was worth it, and told him how he planned on paying for it.  LOL  He told me that if that’s what I wanted, that was fine with him, and go get it.

I guess he was happy, it took all of the pressure off of him to find me something that would be worthy of my 12 years of service, and if you count my nephews that I helped raise, his two devil spawns and him ~  I’ve even put in way more years of service than just 12.

So, anyway, I did my homework on the electronic readers.  I compared the Kindle 2 and the Sony reader and some other brand that wasn’t really impressive.  So, it was between these two.  I read all the reviews from the web pages that I looked at.  And I do have to say that some people really know their shitz when it comes to electronics.  I know you can’t believe everything you read, but based on my research, which was pretty much everybody’s opinion of the two, I chose the Sony because of the following:  1. It was cheaper, not very much, but every $ counts these days.  2.  It was on sale ~ $20.00 off.  3.  I had a gift card for Target.  4.  It was available at the store, so I didn’t have to wait for it to be shipped.  when I thought I was going to have to order it and god forbid WAIT on it to be shipped, I felt like the kid in the ice cream line who walked up to the counter as they were posting a sign that read “Sorry, all we have available is Ensure shakes and lo fat ice-milk“.  But check back next Saturday when we get our new stock of 101 flavors“. Well, I didn’t want to wait until “next saturday“!!  So, being the spoiled brat that I am, I called 2 Target stores near me, and both had one (only one) in stock. Ok, getting back to why I choose the Sony, as if the money saving part wasn’t enough.  So, I believed all these techy reviews that I read.  And decided on the Sony one.  The differences weren’t THAT big, but according to a few people, since the Kindle was fairly new and the Kindle 2 had just come out, they were still little quirks that needed to be tweeked.  I don’t have the patience for “tweeking“.  I wanted my elec. reading device to serve my needs immediately.
OOOOHHHHHHH, when I got it, I had to charge it, of course, and then I proceeded to play with it.  It was neat, found out that it holds not only E-books, but pictures (only in b/w though) and music too.  There was supposed to be a free book download code included too.  Well there was a code, but it didn’t work.  I didn’t care though, cause it wasn’t a book I’d buy.  But when I got onto the ebook site, and made my account, I searched a certain catagory, and found about 5 books that I could download for free ~ SU-WEET!!  I just looked at one catagory, not anything else that I might have been interested in like, recipes, non-fiction, and psychology.

Anyway, I love it!  It’s almost THE best mother’s day present that I’ve ever gotten.  Of course the best ones come from my daughters little artistic hands and mind.  She is quite the artist since she has been able to hold a pencil.  She draws a stick man like no other.  She does do pretty good though.  I feel like she’s going to have that artsy talent that my papa, my aunt, and my sister have.  The ol saying “the apple don’t fall far from the tree“........ well that would apply here, if my tree wasn’t on an incline, and Tori (my daughter) wouldn’t have rolled more towards my sister than me.  But anyway, that makes it that much more special, that she reminds me of my sister so much, after all, I love my sister, she’s one of my best friends, as is my 12 year old daughter.

So, any of you out there who are thinking about purchasing an electronic reading device.  Do your homework, do some research, read those reviews, compare the reviews.  So far, the opinions of others have been right on the money.

And the best part, I can stick it in my pocketbook, and take it anywhere, it’s light, not bulky, and the music goes through ear phones, so you won’t disturb anybody else.

It’s a perfect gift for the reader in your family.  Even kids would love it I think.  Of course, age appropriate kids.  And the gift cards from ebooks would make a great gift idea.

    • I am glad you love your Sony! I do have the K2 and I love it. Since I am such a big amazon user I upgraded to their prime member. I think it was $79 for the year but I get things shipped to me in 2 days and I don’t pay for shipping.
But anyways.... yes my K2 goes everywhere with me. I may start converting my mag subscriptions to the K2 as well. Certainly will save space...

BTW whatever brand it is YES YOU ARE WORTH IT!!!!

    • Thanks Vikki for the nice words.  I didn’t know you could do mag. subscriptions too!  How neat.  I did notice that the books seem to be alot less expensive to download.  When I used to read alot I had a bookshelf that was packed to the gills!  Well, I have since gotten rid of all of those, and utilized my book shelf for my antique ashtray collection, and cd’s.  When I started reading again, my Twilight series and True Blood series need a place to bunk.  However, with  my Sony, It will be alot easier to store memory cards.

$79.00 seems well worth it since you don’t have to wait, AND you get free shipping.  The shipping alone would add up to that in no time.

Yes “WE” are worth every bit of everything we want, ask for, or expect.  estatic
