Maybe it’s the constant pain, maybe it’s the heat, could be that we’ve been up since 4 with a tiny fur baby who had a very gurgly tummy-but I just am not feeling the idea of going “whole hog” for the holiday.

While our DD and older boys are enjoying company from Cali, our DS/DIL and little guy are joining us for dinner tonight.

What am I doing, since it’s too late to hire my favorite “caterer” (by now you know that’s Costco roasted chicken, La Brea bread, tapenade and a nice big True Food Kale salad-I make the last part), I took out a huge pack of pork chops and made a very easy teriyaki marinade with soy sauce, pineapple juice, brown sugar, fresh ginger and chopped scallions.  DH or DS will man the grill-until I either have a miracle occur and will somehow move my shoulder on my own or have it surgically corrected-lifting and repetitious work is not in the cards anymore.

Because my “younger” kids love noodle kugel-dh got down the food processor for me, filled the “noodle” pot with water and made sure the only lifting would be to drain the pasta and then put the pan into the oven.  (Someone’s taking it out for me!)

Darling DIL suggested that in 110-we should just have a nice cold salad-I love that because it’s easy!  We’ll have a nice big spinach, mushroom and tomato bowl with some crispy onions on the side.  Dressing?  I’ve got 3 at the moment:  Creamy Balsamic, Pear-Gorgonzola and a Strawberry vinaigrette.

Did I hear you asking for dessert?  Well, I sent DH to Fry’s the other day while I took Lucky for her mani/pedi-Dyl and I were done and DH and Aidan were still MIA-why?

Because instead of just quickly going in and getting the raspberries that were on sale-mister “I swear I’m going to eat healthy” bought a dozen cupcakes and a strawberry whipcream cake!

That was Thursday-we still have 8 cupcakes and 3/4’s of the cake left.

Dessert is done.  I have a vitalicious dark chocolate muffin top in the freezer.
