Yes I have had 4 lumbar/cervical surgeries over last 2 1/2 years. All fusions-altogether 7 levels fused. Sometimes I feel like a big scar walking around with clothes on(scary thought.) I do continue to take pain meds, nerve pain pills, Valium for a muscle relaxant at bedtime in addition to various other Rx unrelated to ddd condition. Just joined The “Chronic Pain Group“, some of the posts are quite old, so that’s either a good sign-everyone is better, or a bad sign-everyone is in too much pain to post. Hope it is the former.

Miss my life before back totally lost it-at that time I was exercising, losing weight, working as an L&D RN 2 nights a week. Four kids kept me very busy over the years. And my husband farms-so long hours. I am the complete farm office- manager, executive assistant, payroll clerk, AR, AP.... Can you say crazy multitasker? I wonder sometimes if I just wore myself out-my body I mean.

Now, I am no longer working nights(or at all as a RN)and I feel more alert. I worked nights 23 years and switched back and forth, days to nights, working fairly well-I thought. I had a clerk at bank tell me I’m much more lively now. I wonder what my kids thought over the years. All I know is I was trying my hardest to be everything to everyone, I just have not decided how to feel. I am ssslllooowwwlllyy recovering-massages,light exercise and my meds. And my online community-I check certain blogs every other day, facebook to check on old friends and family, email and Fab40. Gosh,I would be very isolated if the internet was not availiable.

I just want all of you ladies living with pain to hang in there-keep taking your Rx if you want to, take natural supplements if you want to, move as much as you are able, eat well, try to sleep fairly well, sex if you are able(?), pray/meditate if you are able....... I don’t think any one thing will work for all of us, but a combination of things  might help some of us. And if nothing helps your pain I truly feel for you and will pray for all of you.

    • You have put into words how I feel, a big scar walking around with clothes going in for another “fix it” surgery. I also wonder if I did something wrong but I am realistic and know it wasn’t anything I did or didn’t do, my body just had an expiration date, and I’m there...maybe I’ll get to move back its expiration and at least get a “Used Best By date” LOL. I will be completely fused and can only hope I feel some relief afterwards. Like you I also have the internet to thank for making sure I am not completely isolated. I wish you great progress in your recovery.
