When I was away at camp last week I learned a lesson from a baby bird. It was a cute little bird that just fell down in front of me as I walked to my cabin. Although I love looking at birds and taking pictures of them, I had never been this close. I stopped dead in my tracks. This bird was so small and helpless with its feathers tatered about its little head. I felt compassion in my heart immediately. It hobbled a bit and sat there not moving much. I put my things down and knelt down beside it and I was amazed that it didnt fly away but moved closer to me as if it needed my help. Afraid to touch it with my hands for fear the mother bird was close by and wouldnt nurture it I found a stick and put it on the ground near its feet. The baby bird jump up and purched on it. I lifted it ever so gently up to my face and looked closely as I watch its beak open and close as if it were trying to tell me something. I began to whistle. As I whistled the baby bird began to make a sqeaking sound almost in rhythm with my whistling and I began to smile. I found a branch and purched it back in the tree that stood close by. When I began to walk away the bird jumped from the tree fly a few yards and hit another tree, paniced I ran to rescue from the ground. I used the stick and purched the bird in anothe tree.  I watched the bird the rest of the day. The bird jumped from one branch to the next climbing higher and higher upon the tree. She jumped slowly and seemed to walk closer to the edge each time. Finally she was way up in the tree and right on the edge of the limb. She made one more jump OUT into the AIR and FLEW!!! I was moved to tears that the bird had done it, she flew! I was so excited for the bird. As I walked away I took away this. Life is a huge flying course. When your old enough your kicked out and told to fly or die. You find a tree, you jump and crash sometimes, but God always sends someone to pick us up and help purch us back up in that tree of life so that we can keep trying until we get it. I was blessed by that lesson because there have been many that have helped me get back in the tree and try again. Thank you for that.
