Today is Veteran's Day.... the forgotten holiday.  Amid all the pre-season sales... the true meaning of the holiday seems to get lost.  All too often the holiday is just looked at as another shopping opportunity for the upcoming holiday season..

Too often we forget those who served our country both in peace time and war.  They're service to this country has kept us safe and allowed us to enjoy the many freedoms we have.  I will be forever grateful to them for the sacrifices they and their families have made for us.  No mistake about it... the families have sacrificed too...  and their contribution should be recognized as well.

I just wish more people remembered our service men and women, past and present.  So please remember them in your thoughts and prayers today.

    • Today I went to a ladies’ luncheon, with a group I just joined in my new hometown. One of the ladies used to be a choir director and was saying how much she missed this year not putting together a Veteran’s Day program. So she asked the lady vets in the room (there were three) to stand, and she sang the Star-Spangled Banner. So moving.

    • Amen Linda! Thank you for this. My father is a WWII veteran...he served 4 years in the Navy from 1941 - 45. He was in the South Pacific much of that time and saw , as you can imagine, some terrible things.  I was very, very proud to attend the 50th anniversary reunion with  him and his ship mates in Boston in 1996. Meeting all those men and hearing their stories is one of the highlights of my life. You cannot imagine how much pride that weekend instilled in me and the THANKS I felt that weekend for all veterans. Let them Never Be Forgotten , especially those who gave all!
