So, I have been thinking about going GREEN.  You know, trying to pay attention to how I live every day.
When I was married to, let’s call him AL, and we attempted to re-cycle, he just could NOT follow the re-cycle rules. Like HE knew better than the City of Chicago. And maybe he did, but it did not change the fact that the city had rules and if you did not follow them it screwed the pooch, if you know what I mean.
So here I am, back to the question of living GREEN. There is a light out in my bedroom and I am faced with the question of which light bulb is the correct choice. If I am going GREEN I should use one of those awful, garish energy saving lights. BUT COME ON. HAVE you SEEN the LIGHT those things give off?
When I moved into my own place after the BIG D I put in those beautiful full spectrum light bulbs all over the house. They give off this beautiful glow and just make me feel warm and cozy. Nothing harsh. Like they way they film older movie stars. I have a male friend, Logan, he came over to my place and while in the bathroom he let out a yelp! I went running to see the problem. Did a dog push his way into the bathroom and surprise him? NO! He just could not believe how great he looked in my bathroom. It’s those lights, I’m telling you.
I was just at Target for supplies including the light bulb choice. I put both the GREEN choice and the beautiful choice in the basket. I was just standing in the check out and who do I see but a local TV reporter, Janet Davies. She does the news and special entertainment reports and the like. My friends have been making a bit of fun of her as we think she is a bit long in the tooth for these special reports, but anyway, seeing her in the Target light sealed the deal.
I cannot go GREEN when it comes to inside lighting. I need all the help I can get.
I will JUST have to find another way.

    • Ladybrett the very word "light" do bring a warm feeling exspecially when your life has change from being two and then one. Certain lights bring out all hidden flaws as well as that hidden beauty. Cindy Lauper (don't quote me on the last name)song "I see your true color," holds true. The light bring out the true colors.

    • OH MAN!   I do need the whole scoop on this lighting thing.
But I will tell, I would still rather turn the lights off rather than use those harsh bulbs.

    • Yes, leeann, you‘re right.  The so-called “green” lights are NOT the best and they do have mercury in them.  They also fade your drapes and fabrics.  Ugh!  I don’t consider them “green” at all—just another way to get us to spend money we shouldn’t have to.  There is now only one maker of the old-style incandescent light bulb in the US.  Soon it will be impossible to get them.

ladybrett, what type of bulbs do you use that you like so well?

    • OMG!  I use those full sprectrum lights.  They look kind of rose/pink (very light) until you turn them on.  It is supposed to just make everything brighter.  I bought them the first time because It was deep winter and someone told me they helped with the winter blues.  All I know is they give off GREAT light.
I did not know those other bulbs faded fabrics.
