When our good friend (and recent Silver Style Award recipient) Ari Seth Cohen of Advanced Style recently spotlighted our very own Countess of Glamour, Lynn Dell, on The Huffington Post among other baby boomer fashion mavens:
A Return to Hats (PHOTOS)
Hats are one of the great style secrets of New York’s senior set. In my grandmother’s day, men and woman wouldn’t have left the house without a stylish head covering. To this day the image of a woman in an elegant hat conjures the grace and glamor of times gone by. Not only are they a great accessory, but they come in all sizes, and are helpful in protecting your skin from the sun.
A few years back, 90-year-old model and actress Mimi Weddel pronounced, "The only romantic thing left in life is a hat," in the documentary on her life, "Hats Off." Let's take a cue from Mimi and bring back some vintage charm. Put on a hat before leaving the house, you will be ever the more stylish for it.
we decided to go to the source, herself, to find out how her fabulous hats have shaped her sensational style. "Well, I initially started wearing hats to illustrate whatever fashion frame of mind I was in at the time," The Countess shares. "Whether effortless elegance or fantastically fashion-forward was what I wanted to be at the time, I could always trust that my hats would bring the glamour to my look."
She realized that not only did these stylish chapeaus frame her beautiful face perfectly; but wearing them commanded a level of respect that was befitting of the Countess of Glamour. After officially adopting them as her style staple and receiving countless compliments, she decided to incorporate them into Off Broadway Boutique's accessories collection.
As a result, plenty of fashionable women over fifty fell head over heels for these hats, for they represented the vibrant style that Lynn Dell has made her trademark. "I handpick every single one of them every time because I wanted my clients to experience the chic glamour that comes along with wearing a classy hat," she states. They're certainly in great company, for they've got our Countess of Chic Chapeaus to look to as a style inspiration!
