I have been all wrapped up this week in giving makeovers. Not of the physical kind (although that, with my treadmill and other changes, is taking place, too), but of the aesthetic and motivational kind.

In an effort to get back on track with everything I've got going on, I have completely [Link Removed] and been working long and hard on getting my writing schedule nailed down. I've got a lot to show for my efforts and I'm proud of what I've accomplished. Plus, I've had a bit of fun in the process.

However, I've apparently been running a day behind all week because all day long I've believed today to be Thursday*. Much to my shame, when someone on television just referred to tomorrow as *Saturday, it occurred to me that I owed you a Friday five!

I guess when you get right down to it, being made over, or making over some aspect of your life, doesn’t always end up with the results we were hoping for. I certainly didn’t intend to further distract myself—in fact, I was going for the complete opposite effect!

So, on a spur of the moment decision, I present to you this week’s Friday five: All About Makeovers. The good, the bad, and the deadly.

Have a good weekend! (and next week, my Oscars preview!)

Don't Tell Her It's Me: Gus Kubicek (Steve Guttenberg) is a lonely cartoonist recovering from cancer. His sister Lizzie (played by Shelley Long) is a romance novelist who is desperate to see Gus happy. When Gus develops an interest in Emily (Jamie Gertz), Lizzie sets out to transform him from pale and pudgy to rock-hard handsome. Not Rated

Princess Diaries: Anne Hathaway plays Mia Thermopolis, a gawky teenager living in San Francisco with her single mother. When an elegant stranger (Julie Andrews) arrives, proclaiming Mia as her granddaughter and sole heir to the throne of Genovia, Mia's life gets turned upside down. But for all the etiquette training and eyebrow plucking the royal team provides, Mia serves to prove that the more things change, the more they stay the same. Rated PG

The Good Girl: Justine (Jennifer Aniston) is in definite need of a life makeover. Unfortunately, she's stuck working the cosmetics counter at the Retail Rodeo with zero motivation to make a positive change. For Justine, things will have to get worse before they can get better. For the cosmetics customers that Justine's coworker Cheryl (Zooey Deschanel) makes over, things couldn't get much worse. Rated R

40-Year Old Virgin: Andy Stitzer (Steve Carell) is way too uptight, and it doesn't take his friends long to figure out why. Launching a mission to find Andy some female affection, his buds put him through a makeover like no other. In the process of making him a man of the world, Andy's apartment gets stripped of his highly-prized collectibles and his chest gets stripped of some deep-rooted hair. Rated R

Single White Female: Allie (Bridget Fonda) runs a classified ad for a roommate after she breaks up with her boyfriend, but quickly loses hope that she'll find anyone normal. Until she meets Hedy. Hedy's quiet and handy to have around the house, and she just adores Allie. So much so, in fact, that Hedy gives herself a makeover, becoming a carbon copy of her roommate. When Allie's boyfriend returns, Hedy takes the intrusion very seriously. Rated R
