March was always a special month for me as a young girl growing up in the former Soviet Union.  Not much was taken for granted during those early years.  At the end of each February, there was a buzz—both sexes, young and old, planned, or even bribed merchants on the Black Market, to make secret arrangements to have the opportunity to buy flowers on March 8th.  Women, regarded as the backbone in Russian society, are recognized for their hard work during the harsh winters and are celebrated and adorned with flowers and special treats at the first signs of spring.

Although this holiday is not really popular in the United States, I have spent over 30 years celebrating all the women in my life, and wishing them all the best on this glorious and special day! I urge you to celebrate all the Fabulous Women in your life tomorrow.
