I feel like I am going through a mid “wife” change. I am married to wonderful man of 5 years but lately he works all the time and NEVER wants to do anything. Every Friday it is the same story, I will go in and he will be napping and suggest going somewhere or invite him to go and I get the same response. He goes back to sleep and I go without him. I had in the past just stayed home but now I am itching to get out meet new people and experience life. I recently started a meetup group which consists of men and women looking to meet others for fun and friendship. We go out to eat, go hear bands and play trivia. There are married, singles and one couple is engaged. I just feel stuck somewhere in the middle. I don’t fit in with the single crowd because I am married so that limits me and I don’t fit in with the married couples because I would end up going by myself. Somewhere there must be a happy medium.

    • Wow, I can so relate. We moved to Louisiana 2 years ago from California and my husband became an Independent Contractor for FedEx. Since he is self-employed he works long hours, sometimes he gets home in time to eat and go to bed.
Saturday morning he goes in to load his truck and comes home tired. By the time he wakes up it’s mid-day and he just wants to hang around the house. Or, when he does want to go somewhere his whole conversation is his route, his customers, etc...I try to provide an ear but inside I am screaming! I’ve made a few friends, but I live in a small town and there’s not always alot to do unless we drive to another town which is an hour away or more.
So, amylou85, just know you‘re not alone.
