Yea, so what if you haven’t written (& published) a book, put out an article that was picked up by the NY Times or in any other way earned some kind of recognition beyond that of your family & friends?

Over the weekend, I ran across an offer to attend a virtual seminar presented by 2 supposedly well known authors & business partners. BTW, the ‘virtual seminar’ is a very expensive opportunity!

What occurred to me as I looked over the material is that it’s not necessary to be an “expert” in that way! While personally gratifying I’m sure, that isn’t always what makes us an “expert in our field“!

Still on the “personal expertise” kick as a tool for our Women’s Essential Biz Toolbagtm, I don’t think we have to have national recognition (I don’t recognize the presenters of the high-priced web event) to be viewed as an “expert” or to be SUCCESSFUL! All we have to do is share what we already have in our personal/professional toolkit!

Most of us here have enough experience, knowledge, education (M.A or M.S. from ‘Hard Knocks U‘) & wisdom to go ‘round the world multiple times. We simply have to get the courage to let it be known. Not in published materials as we usually think of it - but in what is becoming the ‘traditional’ way. And that’s blogs, forums, etc. Where the action is & the action is on the web!

A dear friend told me she’s started a personal blog. Hiding it away from view somewhat, but mainly to get comfortable with the process of blogging. Sorta’ like hiding in a closet to start the next great American novel!

SUCCESS is not dependent upon a huge following; national or international recognition or even the recognition & adulation of peers. It’s dependent upon letting others in on what we have to offer. Something we say will mean much to another. . . and a following occurs when that happens more times than not!

“Personal expertise” is just that! The “expertise” we’ve gathered as we’ve rolled along on the journey. Those “ah ha” moments that have added to our repetoire of ‘something of value’ that isn’t meant to be hoarded - but ‘cast upon the waters’ for others to feed upon!

SUCCESS, the kind we can ‘live’ with gives first!

That’s the kind of SUCCESS that has staying power! A ‘power’ for others that brings positive recognition & the label “expert” in her field.

I know it can be scary to put ourselves out there! Trust me, it took a loada’ years to get me to this point where I abandon all thought of self-preservation & vicariously just let it ‘hang out‘. And there are still some places I exercise caution & reserve.

But what I’ve learned is that most folks are gentle with our baby-steps. I know those of us gathered here certainly are. After all, most of us are in the same boat!

So my Monday Moment encouragement is to throw a wee bit of self-caution to the wind & abandon just a smidgen of self preservation, in exchange for the beginning of recognition as an “expert“. It doesn’t have to be as a “rocket scientist“. Or even a professional ‘guru’ in anything.

It just has to be recognition for shedding that nugget of ‘fear’ that shouts “no” when you reach for ‘center stage‘.

Let’s hear from all you STATION experts! Oh I hear the rising applause as you step upon the stage & move into your rightful place!

Much love & a desire for your growing confidence in what you know & who you are as an empowered woman!
