With the cost of everything going up, it is getting harder to eat healthy. Let’s post some money saving tips. I want to focus on eating healtier without spending more.

Things not to put in your grocery cart:
soda
chips
processed refined carbs (crackers, cookies, Little Debbie’s)
cold cereal, especially the sweet kind

It is amazing when you calculate how much you spend just on what you drink. Do the math. It’s crazy. What can you do with that extra 20 dollars? We‘re probably talking 50 or more if you leave off just the things on that list. With some of it you’ll want to spend more time in the produce section, and the rest - save it for a rainy day. :)

I am not suggesting you give up everything but water. Even I, the health nut, can’t go that far. But limit your juice intake to 4 oz instead of the typical 8. If you drink the recommended min amount of water (half your weight in oz) you aren’t going to want much else though. :) If you normally drink two cups of coffee, cut back to one... and drink your water.

Another thing that will help you to accumulate savings is to round up in your check book register everytime you write a check or post a payment. This will add up FAST. And if at the same time you incorporate this with your cash, you’ll be amazed at how a penny saved is a dollar earned. :) Anytime you pay with cash, don’t us coins. Take the change and put it in a piggy bank. Don’t cheat. Watch it grow.

Anybody else have any money saving ideas? There are things that I do to get the most out of everything I buy too. Anything that you can think of that will help to stretch the dollar? Please share.
