This is totally random - hence the title...
I am in the midst of whirlwind  life changes and I am struggling to figure out the best course of action.

When you get married(even if it IS a mid-life, not your first marriage kind of situation) you certainly don’t expect the first wedding gift you get to be a pink slip in your husbands lunchbox. EEPS!

The man is intelligent, if not brilliant - but like so many other “intelligent, if not brilliant” people these days - unemployment is dragging on (and on...and on....)and the man is sinking in the throes of depression and lethargy.

Even under the best of circumstances, being newly married is hard work...stressful....and challenging.  Add this fun tidbit to the soup and you have a recipe for disaster!!

In the midst of trying to figure out how to make this all work  I came across a job listing in my area... working for another institution of higher ed...doing similar work to my own...starting at the VERY least the same money and (AND!!!) with summers off.

Needless to say I have jumped on this posting with both feet and a couple hands.... and have begun marshaling my resources in this direction.  I am not sure if this is really the BEST thing to do but not sure it could hurt, either.

The letters of recommendation have been jaw-dropping.
Seriously - if I had known that people felt this way about me - I might have felt better about the job in the FIRST place...but it is really heartwarming to hear how people feel about me, even if it is as I am trying to run out the door!!

All the things I teach my students about resume writing, job interviewing and life skills are swirling in my head and I am SO trying to be realistic about this.

Think good thoughts!!!
