Some of you may hear that I always wanted to be in the airlines industry when I was young.  At that time, I wanted to be a fight attendant.  PamAm was hot then.  Seeing those stewardess in their uniform, hats and heels, pulling their luggage, chatting happily cruising in the airport.  I paid the highest admiration at that time.

My parents sent me to England to complete my high school.  Initially, due to language barrier and away from home, I cried and called long distance to Hong Kong and requested my parents to withdraw me from school.  They asked what would I do then?  I told them I would apply for airlines.  At those times, they had straight requirement: perfect vision, certain height, certain attributes, swim well; almost like a beauty contest.  So my parents forbid me and I continued my education in England and then US.

Then life went on... married, worked in insurance industry and then financial industry.

With the recent turmoils in my life, I forsake my financial practice.  I do not know what to do, where I would go, or how my future will be.

For recent months, I have been collecting unemployment and on top, I helped out with my community in translation services.  I will go to healthcare provider officers and translate simultaneously between the healthcare profession and patients.  Cantonese is my mother tongue and I can speak Mandarin but kind of rusty.  With recent months, my Mandarin has been polish a bit and now it is understandable.

Then I accidentally landed on an ad that Continental was seeking individual who must speak Cantonese and Mandarin.  The pay is not anywhere near to my previous profession but I need the benefits since I lost my Cobra due to mis-communication.

I applied today and I have gotten the job.  Really an entry level.  However, I need to start my life all over anyhow and so might as well start from the beginning including my career.

I am so excited for I see I will be able to visit families, friends and fabbies all over the world if time permits. So, long and behold, my childhood dream sort of comes true... now I can fly and I am singing John Denver’s “Fly Away”

Thank you very much for all of your support and prayers.  I would not be where I am today without any of you.

Love it
