When the wash cloth was taken away, my baby’s face was gaping and I mean gaping open!
That dog had viciously attacked her! She had two straight and one jagged tear above her upper lip that went through her lip.
She also had a small tear on one of her ears, a puncture wound on the side of her face, marks on her arms where she had put her arms up to protect herself, and a bruise of a paw print on her chest.
Please remember here that Darice had told me the dog “nipped at her” when she called. WTH?
At the emergency room she had 24 stitches to close her face above her lip. They told us she would probably need at least two more surgeries to correct it.
Her lip was so swollen I had a hard time getting any liquids into her. I was feeding her with a dropper. She bagan vomiting so we had to take her to the emergency room again. They said that gems from the dogs saliva had gotten into her blood stream.
She was admitted for two days of IV antibiotics.
These friends of ours never called to check on her or came to the hospital.
Well, She ended up healing wonderful. It took years to lighten up and she had kids always asking her “what happened to your face“?
She said she did’t want any more operations. If you look close at her pic you can see one of the scars that runs through her lip....it would be on the right side of her face.
When she was old enough to wear make up I taught her how to line her lips. The right side of her lip disappears because of the jagged scar.
It’s barely noticeable now. You have to be right next to her to see it. I am so thankful!
She is now a Senior in college and her major is elementary special education.
She has been on the “Dean’s list” every semester for outstanding grades.
I am so proud of her!

    • Inakika..yes, we sued their homeowner’s insurance to pay medical bills.

Marci...I didn’t know that.  It still is a horror to me when I think about it.  I am so thankful that it healed fairly well and she didnt’ have to go through any more trauma.

    • How traumatic!

Jomi, my 15-yr-old goddaughter was bitten in the face at age 3. Her settlement went into a trust fund. We suspect that is why real dad has taken such an interest in her living with him, after never having custody.

    • Yes, I’m sure that’s his reason.  Sad, isn’t it?

Alicia got enough to cover her college tuition and get a car.
