Wednesday afternoon I made my very first fudge pie.  I got it from Southern Living online and was just so excited about making it and serving it on Thanksgiving Day.

Thanksgiving Day comes and we have so many other desserts that my fudge pie is not even touched.

Today when I got home from work I discovered that my fudge pie was gone.  I never cut it...never tasted it...nothing.

It seems that my dear Brittany Spaniel, Molly somehow pawed it off of my buffet in the dining room and ate the entire fudge pie.  My hardwood floors where I guess it fell off the buffet have fudge smeared all over them.

I am so mad about my dog eating my fudge pie.  I thought about that fudge pie all day to day at work and was going to come home and cut me a piece....warm it up...place a scoop of vanilla ice cream on it drizzled with Hershey’s chocolate syrup and topped off with pecan chips.  I so looked forward to consuming every single bit to where I would be sick.  But oh no....my dog has now become the fudge dog.  It’s amazing that it didn’t kill her or make her very sick.  This isn’t the first time she has eaten chocolate and each time it never makes her sick.

So for now....I have to make me another fudge pie and see how it really is.  That is my only one castastrophe from the Thanksgiving weekend.........so far that is.........

    • I’m shocked that your dog hasn’t had reactions to chocolate. It’s very bad for them!!

    • Vigirl....not one reaction.  She has already gone to bed...she is very old...15 years old...but she still has spunk to her.  She still eats good...goes outside fine....but she cannot hear at all...and she has a skin allergy....she has lost half of her hair.  But it will grow back.  But she did eat the entire pie....and is perfectly fine.  Crazy I know....

    • Well, Mary...if your doggie isn’t sick AND she ate the whole pie, must be it was damned good!  Enjoy your second pie!  :c)

    • One of my dogs got into a bunch of chocolate and we didn’t know which of the 3 dogs it was. We called the vet and they said to give each of them peroxide via a turkey baster. It was a total barf-a-rama in the backyard!!

    • When I was little we had a dog who ate a whole box of boy scout candy. He hated the nuts, left them on the floor.

    • It’s morning time...and Molly hasn’t missed a beat.  She slept all night and got up this morning doing her same routine.

Yeah Daphne:  it must have been really good.  But I wouldn’t know.

But I would have been very upset if that is what killed my dog.  This dog is very special to me as she belonged to my father who died April 12, 1998.  If my Dad was able to come back and saw that I still had his dog he wouldn’t believe it. She is 15 years old.

So with that said....I guess I’m not as mad about my fudge pie.  Things could have been a whole lot worse.

I have that to be thankful for.

    • I am lucky Linni.  That pie has (3) unsweetened chocolate squares in it... but now that I think of it...that is all the chocolate it had in it.  So maybe that is why it didn’t make her sick.  It’s  not a real sweet batter....but when you put the ice cream and the chocolate syrup on it...then it becomes sinful.

I’m making that pie today....have to because when Monday comes...it’s back to eating right.

    • Thanks Annie...it’s raining here today..and is suppose to rain all weekend.  So today I’m making the fudge pie AGAIN....and I have a new recipe for turkey noodle soup.....from Southern Living...so I’m going to do more cooking today.

We got some good wind and steady rain going here today....we‘re suppose to get at least 2 inches.  We need it though.

I will let you know when I make the fudge pie again today....and how it is.  I hope I won’t be disappointed after all of this.

    • No basement here Teek....but I am going to keep it out of “paw reach“.  That dang dog is like David Copperfield.  She can work some magic.
