Okay Ladies, I finally finished all my test and visited with all the Dr’s I could find.  Got all my 2nd opinions.  And now I have set my surgery date, March 20th.  I’ve heard all the pro’s and con’s.  I’m nervous as heck but I have no choice I have to have the surgery.
I’m a little nervous about the hormones. I don’t like taking medications. That’s how I ended up with my children...forgeting to take that little pill.
I will let you know how I do after the surgery. I have a feeling I’m gonna have a lot of time to be on the computer.
Talk to you soon.

    • Hello Ladybug,

You will come out alright. Try hard not to be consumed with worry and fret. The bright side is even if you forget this time to take your meds you won’t have any more children.LOL

I had a hysterectomy and I’m doing great. Just can’t lose any weight. I didn’t take any hormones for the first couple of years. Never have mood swings, still have flashes.  I use hormone therapy now because MsVagina is dry without them. LOL

Have a great life living with less and remember we are here for you always.

    • Gina,

Don’t you worry about the cons. Everything will be just fine.  I had a hysterectomy at the age of 22 and have had no problems with weight loss or meds. I can’t take meds now since my mom has had breast cancer and it is not good that I should take them. No hot flashes, etc (I think I may have had them in the first 6 months after surgery, but that is all.

Best of luck to you and let us know how you are doing okay?

      Della

    • Yeah I held onto my uterus far longer than I should have, but you know I was born with it and wanted to die with it.  Geez, I wasn’t so lucky.  I had it and only it removed 6 months ago yesterday.  I feel really good and best of all no more periods!  I don’t have to do hormones though because I still have everything ele ovaries, tubes, cervix, the works but the baby condo is gone.

You’ll do well, the hardest part is doing NOTHING for 6 to 8 weeks!

    • When I had my surgery, it was scarey but I had no choice with a huge mass that had to be removed.  It was the best decision for me.

I did take hormones until a close friend got breast cancer and her Dr. husband told me to stop.  The hot flashes were very annoying to me and my family but they have mostly ended after a long time.

Since I have a family history of cancer, hormones are risky. Of course, discuss it with your Doctor.

I actually lost weight after the surgery!  It has creeped back up on me since I work at a desk and don’t exercise as much.

Stay focued on your health and you will do great!
