I hope! I just applied for our nursing program. I should know if I’m accepted by the middle of Spring. But in the meantime, I’m about to start what I hope to be the last semester of pre requisite classes. I’ll be taking Math, Physiology and Microbiology. It will be a tough few months. Like last semester, I’ll do my best to pop in as often as I can and contribute to the site but I know you’ll understand if I’m not around much.

I’m also putting in 10 hours a week in our campus health center. I can’t tell you how valuable this experience has been. I started out with the idea of becoming a medical assistant and switched to nursing after starting this job. I’ve been giving shots, administering TB skin tests, running urinalysis, helping our nurse practitioner in the exam room during exams and procedures and she’s even beginning to allow me to draw blood on some of our patients. I’ll be way ahead of the game before I enter the nursing program.

Looking back on last semester, though, I realize that I missed out so much on so many things. I was buried in my textbooks. In the end it paid off, however, with maintaining my 4.0 GPA and being inducted into the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. I’m pretty proud of that. But this semester I plan to streamline my studying, tape record lectures so I can listen to them on my off time, take better notes in class, try to work ahead in my assignments. But if all goes as planned, by the end of May I’ll be accepted into the program and I’ll be enjoying a very relaxing summer before I’m thrown in from the frying pan to the fire as this very rigorous program begins in the fall.

I just wanted to update my pals over here - I’m not here much these days but I’m not far away, either.
