Life Then:
Monday: I am the first one up in the morning making sure everyone is off on the right foot. I always wave goodbye at our family room window. I check my calendar to make sure I am off of work for the kids events. Baseball, track, cross country, band/choir concerts, dance competitions, and plays. Then off to work as a cosmetologist. Then back home to make sure dinner is on the table. Fridays are date night with my husband. Fish Fry dinner, a Wisconsin tradition. My kids always had friends over. We were the “hang-out house“. Life was full of fun activities, laughter, and things always going on. Our home was never quiet.

Life Now:
Monday: I get up with my husband and sit down together for breakfast. I send him off on the right foot and wave goodbye at our living room window. I jump on the internet before work. Then to work I go, and come home. Its hard to make dinner for just two. I do some tidying up around the house then back on the internet I go. My husband gives me shit for it. Then friday comes and we go out for fish fry dinner.

It is much more quiet, the home stays clean, and I have a lot more time for myself. It is very different. I don’t know if I like it! My husband has signed me up for a weekend with the girls at Camp Morris Conference Center to make a scrapbook for us. We have lots for our children but I never made a scrapbook for us. It is October 17-19. I said ok and that it sounds like a good idea. Wow, does it feel uncomfortable doing something for myself. I was talking to a friend about the weekend and found myself getting emotional. I do not really know why. I will have let you all know how it goes in October.
