I want to get something off my chest and I too don’t want to get judged, because I feel that ever sinces I joined this site on 4/6/09 that I have made ALOT of WONDERFUL FABULOUS FRIENDS,and friends tell each other EVERYTHING.You have all been there for me, SO THANK YOU ALL!!I really didn’t know what to expect when I joined this site and to my surprise I’m SO GRATEFUL I did and I DON‘T regret it..First of all everything that was said in my profile is TRUE, except my name..it’s GILDA I love my name NOW but when I was growing up I DIDN‘T like it AT ALL..I always thought my name was WEIRD and I can’t imagne anybody else with MY NAME, but to my surprise I found out there was Gilda Radner(the actress)..But as I got older my mom told me that my dad picked out my name and it comes from the spanish bible,it means: God’s Servant.. So my full name is: Gilda Marie Ramirez,in spanish it’s Maria Gilda Ramirez(it’s backwards),So to ALL you WONDERFUL people PLEASE forgive me and DON‘T be MAD...

    • I can totally relate with part of it. My name is Charlotte and I hated it growing up! Add to that my maiden name is Wrench. To say that school was torture would be an understatement.

Now that I’m grown I love my first name and I’ve noticed that it seems to be making a comeback. After my divorce I opted to NOT go back to my maiden name. I was named after my Dad (Charles, Chuck) we don’t have the best relationship so that’s no big deal one way of the other.

I’ve learned to love my name! I like Gilda too!!

And why on earth would anyone be mad???

      Charlotte

For some reason, my mother who is 100% Italian was determined not to name any one of her children with Italian sounding names. I wish she had. And you have the sweet memory of your dad giving you your name. I know you’ll always keep that one in your heart.

    • Hey, I like your name.  I’ve never known anyone named Gilda, it’s a neat nameestatic  I was named after a grandmother I never met. It’s an old fashioned name and I hated it growing up, but now it’s okay. It’s Mary Lou and my family ALWAYS calls me that, people I have met since in my teens have always just called me Mary which I really prefer.  I know it’s a common name, but I was always sung too (with the Hello Mary Lou, etc) or called names (Loody Poody), I can laugh at that now.
But, no matter, we should be proud of our names. Mine was also picked out by my father for his mother who passed on before I was born.

and we (me and my mom) share the same middle name MARIA. Her name is Maria Celiaestatic..I like your name Mary Lou and it carries on within your family, because it was your granmothers nameestatic

I love your name. It’s not common and beautiful. I am sure your late father meant the best for you when he was giving you your name. I think you should be proud.
      Have a great Sunday!
I am going to my younger son recital.  I hope he’ll do well.

Gilda is strong and if you are anything like the description that is in the Bible you can rest assured that you are simply marvelous and the substance of that title “servant” permeates your being for days and years to come.

    • I’m a little late in the game here, but I LOVE your name. Like irishree, I was named Marie (middle name) and grew up being called Ree Ree. Unlike her, I thought that was pitiful. As most of my friends here know, I go by Twinkie because it was a childhood nickname that stuck and I’m still called that today. I would love to have a strong name like Gilda. My Mother named me Tina Marie and I have always hated it. Wanna trade? ha ha! Feel free to be yourself, sweetie, not only here, but anywhere. That’s my #1 rule in life. That is, after all, why we are here. I thank GOD to have found this place to be able to come and open up and be myself and be accepted for just who I am, no matter what. So don’t forget that.
