Okay, I’ve had it.  Last night as I was serving up dessert to a crowd of 13 family members IT happened.  My dishwasher (the second of a series by Maytag that will find it’s way in to my regular blog this week) broke down for the 4TH TIME.

Thankfully, after cooking continuously for 4 days for 8, my hand (the former broken one) had pretty much called it quits and I decided to serve on paper plates and serve a very simple meal of BBQ pork chops marinated in a balsamic vinaigrette, veggie tray with both dip and hummus and 2 different loaves of artisan bread.

I say thankfully because when we got to dessert, my nephew was helping me by putting the coffee cups away and the latch broke for the 4th time in 7 years.  And no, that was NOT the only thing that had gone wrong with this “dishwasher” (a term that I’ve used lightly all 7 years), so I assured my wonderful nephew that he needn’t worry and told him that was why I had the appliance repair company’s number on the fridge.

My husband and I made a bold decision-we were not repairing it again and we were not replacing it with a Maytag.

I’m not sure, but I think there’s some sort of bad karma cloud here.  I know I’m getting new wood floors, but that doesn’t sound so great when I think of all the work attached and the fact that we have to move out for over a week and board the animals for that time.

Cooking?  Cooking?  Tonight I’m serving the leftovers from last night’s dinner.  My hand is so sore I’m typing with only the right one.  I’ve already done 3 sinkfuls of dishes this morning.

So cooking-I know I’m making a rib dinner on Thursday night for when our older nephew comes over for the evening.  I’m sort of dreading it already-dinner for 5 is usually as easy as brushing my teeth, but given the fact that I had quite the time of that using one hand this morning-I’m not sure what will be happening by then.

My best case scenario-Lowe’s has just the dishwasher I want and they‘re true to their word and deliver it the next day.

Love it
