Ode To My Unborn Grandson

What quiet morn
That hears a sleeping babe’s sigh
And gentle, soothes unfurrowed brow
As lashes shadow tender cheeks
Softly the breeze sings
O‘er its peaceful sanctuary
A babe’s sweet lullaby

    • Very peaceful and evocative. I hope you shared it with the unborn child’s parents!

    • Thank you for the comment, Marianne!

No, I haven’t shared it with my daughter or her husband yet.

The baby shower we‘re throwing for my daughter is next month, and I’m going to finish the other two verses, then write it with a calligraphic pen onto parchment, mat it and have it laminated. I’ll draw dragonflies, frogs and shamrocks around it as well.

I’m also making her shower cake; a ‘Mad Hatter’ cake, in a blue, green and white theme..I’m going to make the decos out of fondant, including baby bottles, rattles, booties, babies, blocks, and again, frogs and dragonflies, and shamrocks, since my son-in-law is Irish, and my grandson is due on St. Patrick’s Day!

If you‘re curious about what a ‘Mad Hatter’ cake is, take a look at this link:

I’m really looking forward to meeting my new grandbaby! Mark Anthony Donaghue Jr!
