I woke up this morning feeling like someone used me for kick boxing practice. I have no voice, my throat is killing me, i have a headache. Goshhhh all this and a huge meal to prepare that i REALLY looked forward to. Going to push myself, i have no choice. Some breakfast, Ibuprofen and a hot cup of coffee then tea and all my vitamins...That will make me feel better and if i get feeling worse...i’ll just lie down for a while...i have 3 days to get this done! Say a wee prayer please!!! I just hope this isn’t a flu coming on....cause everything really hurts...Geez...the best made plans.
Have a great day everyone!

    • Sending one up for you!  Don’t fret, truly. A few years ago, right before Thanksgiving, I became seriously ill and the docs didn’t think I was going to make it through. I was in and out of a coma for two months and when I finally started getting better, I was still not up to par.  My kids and my friend Joe decided they were just going to do hot dogs and french fries for Thanksgiving. Friends started showing up and they ran with the theme and we ended up with what looked like a Superbowl party. Hot dogs, Hamburgers, wings, fries, chips, dip, the works.  It didn’t matter what we ate and everyone just had a great time being together. Was truly one of the best Thanksgiving ever.

    • Marie...don’t even claim it girl. Drink your tea, have some hot chicken soup with plenty of garlic, take your vitamins and keep moving forward.
And make sure you get your rest. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

    • Marie,

What I’m about to say just may hurt more but it is the truth as it happened to me.

Could it be that you‘re not that excited about cooking Thanksgiving Dinner? Could it be that a light hearted meal is just what the doctor would order? If your a perfectionist you‘re already beating yourself up with thoughts of is this enough, will everyone be satisfied, what did I forget and who’s gonna show up?

Think about it and then do what you do best and let your faith handle the rest.

    • Ohh nooo...you are way off actually. I started planning this meal weeks ago...lol I am very excited about this dinner.
This is like my favorite thing to do all year! I am a Thanksgiving fanatic. My family could care less if i cooked half of what i am going to . I love going overboard with this!
Thanks for the thought but it definitely is not that!
I am only cooking for 10 and 8 of them are the ones i cook for every day....
I am definitley putting it in the hands of the Lord and i will prevail and it will be awesome...i am feeling a bit better already! Have a great day!

    • Hot lemon tea is good too - with raw honey and a dash of cayenne. And when all else fails, a shot of Jack. LOL Truly, way back when... when Clay was without a job and we were dirt poor... before supplements...but not before grandma remedies....
When my older children were younger, they were sick a lot. Colds, coughs, etc. We relied on Hot Toddies - Jack Daniels, fresh lemon juice, raw honey. ratio 1:2:2 - best cough syrup and germ killer in the world. LOL It’ll knock out a sore throat every time. And yes, I gave it to my kids! Before you gasp - check out otc cough syrups. They all have alcohol in them :)
