I am currently working on my first publication which will actually be on poetry. I have nearly fifty poems I have wrote now and in the process of decided which route for publication. This isn’t much, but a poem I wrote about how I feel about winter. I titled it “Old Woman Winter“. I have often wondered as to why people refer to winter as old man winter so why not say old woman winter. Anyways, here it is:
Copywrite: Sunny Tipton

Old Woman Winter,
Why are you so bitter
You linger and last
And nothing by you, can get past

You cause me to be so blue
And the mornings to be full of so much dew

You make all of the days shorter
And make one wonder whether things will get any better

Centered between the prettiest autumn time of the year
and the cheeriest spring
You come at the tail end of the year and into the beginning
with no songs for any to sing

You send pretty white stuff called snow which often gives
the prettiest pictures for entertaining sight
But you linger so long that it won’t melt and then you come again with all of your might

You keep all flies and pests hid away
But while you are around, wherever all may be, all will stay

When you come around, it seems that all there is to do is to sleep
Like a smart bear to hibernate, that is what I want and until you leave, from me , you won’t hear a peep
