Our Thanksgiving was different this year.  For the first time ever, we went out to eat to a restaurant.  Also, this was the first Thanksgiving we were by ourselves in many, many years.

At first I was bummed out by our circumstances (being by ourselves) but then I just decided to make the best of it.  It was my idea to go out because first, we never, ever go out to eat and second, if we did eat at home, it would feel like any other day because well, we ALWAYS eat at home.

We went to a buffet restaurant where we ate to our heart’s content.  Well, we were more like piggies, but isn’t that what Thanksgiving is about?  estatic  It was nice not having to cook or clean and having a HUGE variety of food and desserts to choose from.  The boys who are rather picky eaters went for the tacos, pizza, and spaghetti while Jason and I went for the traditional Thanksgiving fare of turkey, potatoes, etc.  I had mashed potatoes AND a baked potato.  Didn’t realize how much I love potatoes!!

After our huge dinner, Jason made the suggestion to go by Lake Frederick where he had gone fishing with a friend a few weeks ago.  He drove us there and we walked around the lake and it was just really relaxing and peaceful.  It was right around sunset too and the place was just about deserted.  Jason showed the boys how to skip stones on the water, something I don’t know how to do.

Now we‘re back at the house, just chilling and relaxing.  I went to the library yesterday and checked out a couple books.  I started reading one yesterday and will continue on it here in a little bit.

All in all, it was a really good day...just the four of us, but I’m really thankful today and every day for my family and their love.  It means the world to me.  God has truly blessed me.

Love it
