As you may or may not know I am finishing a degree

in psychology.  I hope to have a BA in Psychology and

Social Science by 2012 but plan to go for my masters

and then a doctorate in Psychology.

A theorist who I have to write my paper on this week

and who I really admire in the field of Psychology

is Carl Rogers. .

The reason I really admire him is that he has the greatest

respect for each individual person and believed that

each person carries within them, their own version of

truth that stems from how they perceive things:

Quoting :

“The only reality I can possibly know is the world as I perceive and experience it at this moment. The only reality you can possibly know is the world as you perceive and experience it at the moment. And the only certainty is that those perceived realities are different. There are as many "real worlds" as there are people! (Rogers, 1980, p. 102)
(Hergenhahn. An Introduction to Theories of Personality, 7th Edition. Pearson Learning Solutions p. 444).

Carl Rogers favored emotions over intellect. He championed

the idea of Client Centered Therapy.

He did have his shortcomings but his works and ideas

greatly influenced the wolrd of psychology.
