Personal Safety in your Kitchen

Potentially dangerous situations are in your own home everyday.

11 Tips to stay safe in your Kitchen

We are all so busy so when it comes time for cooking, we have other things on our minds.

  • While making dinner try to focus on one thing cooking. Try not to leave the burners on
high. It could be spatter and cause a fire.
  • Check the dishtowels that are hanging from the stove. Move them away.
  • Avoid electrical overload. You know when the micro and the toaster oven is on
and you blow a fuse. Get an electrician to ground-fault.
  • Never start cooking with long sleeves that could catch fire when you lean over
the stove to stir the back burner.
  • Store your knives under the counter. If someone brakes into your home one of the
easiest things to grab are the kitchen knife
  • Emergency phone numbers - in close range done wait for something to happen before
you let the family know where they are.
  • Have a family meeting and tell everyone what the plans are if something happens.
  • Turn the handle of the pot inside. It is so easy for the kids to walk past the stove
and hit the handle knocking it to the floor and burn them.
  • When doing the dishes make sure the knives are in the drain not sticking out of the
    silverware holder.
  • Microwave food is extremely hot. Pay close attention when you take food out the steam
    could burn you.
  • When you open a can of peas, dog food or anything made sure you place the top of the
lid inside the can. If someone were to push the garbage down they could easily slice their
    hand.
