I was asked by a fellow fabber to give a little feedback on my experience with probiotics. Last year I was in a medical crisis..came very close to dying. I had contracted a virus in December 2007 that shot my immune system to nearly nothing. I was literally attacked by the herpes virus (which lies dormant in many people and can become activated at any time) which in turn caused the Epstein Barr virus that I had been exposed to, to go haywire and it started a chain reaction of symptoms in my body that I had never dealt with or was not prepared for. I lost 30 pounds, but on my frame it was nightmarish. On top of that I underwent ear surgery, so needless to say, death would have been welcomed. I struggled for months to regain my strength after seeing countless doctors and so much blood work was done for them to really not have an answer except for something viral. I happened to start reading about probiotic therapy and decided to give it a try. I started with Ensure..now mind you I was only able to tolerate liquids for about a month and slowly I started to eat solids again. I investigated a probiotic called Good Belly at our local organic store and started on it right away. The difference that I noticed within a month (early August 2008)was incredible. I really had more energy and a month after that my hair was becoming less brittle and my skin was developing a healthy glow. There are probably many women out there who are familiar with probiotics, but if you are not, please consider trying this for yourself. Probiotics also come in powder and pill form. I take mine in the form of a drink. It is little more than a year later and although I deal with Fibromyalgia (more than likely the end result of the attack on my immune system), I am beginning to feel a sense of renewal. I hope to write more blogs concerning probiotic therapy and supplement use, but this was just an opener to give you an idea of how I got started. I research information constantly, and hope to post much more information. Thanks for reading!
