Please bear with me ladies...I posted this yesterday and the fabulous Miss Teeky and Miss Cynthia are the only ones that responded. Now normally I would just let it go.But I believe there has got to be at least one or 2 of you that would be interested in participating in this and just missed the post. Sooo Please ladies....check this out and get in touch with me! I will not repost this again but this will not be the last you hear about Project Children...LOL This is my passion in life and my busiest time of year with it is upon me. It encompasses my entire life between now and June when the kids arrive.
Hello My Friends,
If you read my profile, you will see I am involved in an amazing program called Project Children. Please Look it up and consider being involved. We need host families...we went form 314 kids 2 years ago to 140 last year from a loss of host parents. I am sure the economy has alot to do with this and having just talked to the chairmans wife today about the upcoming year we think we are only going to have about 100 places for children. Which means the program cannot continue to grow as it has since 1975. In 1975 Project Children brought over 6 children, in 2000, 2 full 747's...yes about 600 children came to America for a summer of fun and friendship September 11, 2001 and it's trickel down effects hot us hard...our best fundraisers and host families up util then were New York City Police and Fireman. The man who started Project Children, Denis Mulcahy, was a NYPD bomb squad detective. He has since moved on to Homeland security. can see how things like terrorism and economy have impacted and there are still alot of deserving kids. Think about it ladies...especially if you have Irish roots, especially from the North of Ireland, chances are your family has felt and dealt with the effects of prejudice and hatred and although things are healing there,. the places I take kids from are the places that are healing the slowest...there are still many open wounds! So please...consider it....If I cannot coordinate for you, I will get you in touch with a coordinator in your area. The website shows the states and areas with coordiantors. Ok...I am very exctied to see where this leads.
Oh the kids arrive June 25th and go home July 28th..that is tentative as of right now but...will probably be the case.
So the kids we host will be here during our Fab40 get together...I am so excited for you ladies to meet our Irish guests, maybe you will have one too to bring and hang out with us during that get together.
Please consider opening your hearts and homes to a child that can really benefit from a "normal" summer!
Thank you....
