I just received my newest issue of Oprah today. And as usual I read front to back starting in the front.
Morgan Freeman will be in a documentary about this small town in Charleston Mississippi. Basically the documentary is about how the parents plan and pay for a segregated prom.
Morgan Freeman is offering to pay (no budget mentioned) for an integrated prom.
I am ashamed (yes ashamed) to say that some of the white parents are still filled with such a hatred that they still plan on a private prom.
Am I alone in feeling this? Why are we allowing this to still happen? Do we not want better for our children so THEY can make a better place?
Really are we still that behind? Or am I just out of line?
Could we take up a fund to buy a copy of Mississipi Burning for every household in the town? Then they can stay home on prom night and watch the movie...
That just blows my mind! That’s beyond disgusting, it’s positively barbaric!
I can’t believe that this is still occurring .
It saddens me that people can hate each other that much.
Ladies, unfortunately as bad as it feels coming from my thoughts we will never see that day of freedom from this. It is so sad!
Laurie...Mississippi Burning was a very powerful movie and they should definitely watch it!
This whole issue is absolutely disgusting! In this day and age who would think that segregation is still alive in this country? I have no idea why the town or the state are allowing this to go on...someone should put a stop to it. Either they all go to the prom together or it just gets cancelled all together. I think they all ought to be ashamed of themselves. We are supposed to be teaching our kids to love one another so they don’t grow up like 88 year old James von Brunn and gun down innocent people because they are so full of hate!

Why are people amazed?Why in this day and age?What changed the hearts of people?Nothing!
Only Jesus can do that, so stop being amazed.
Being Hispanic I am also appalled at the Mexican/American Prom that is done here locally, talk about ignorant self segragation. I don’t get it, and my kids (who are mixed, Hispanic/Black) will not attend when their time comes, either they go where everyone is included or they don’t go.
