I had a radio interview last night and the topic of “purging” your junk came up. Someone asked, “Isn’t there a better way to talk about getting rid of junk besides ‘purging?‘”
Oh yeah, baby. When my friend survived stage 4 breast cancer, she came up with a slam dunk. We were talking on the phone about how she was doing and she told me she was “pruning” her life. What? She told me she was “pruning” the junk, whether it be stuff, thoughts or even people, out of her life.
She told me life was short and way to precious to spend it tending to a bunch of things that aren’t meaningful. She’s right. I mean, the truth is, pruning allows us to see all the beauty of our garden, right? pruning makes our garden healthier too. Hmmm...
Just a thought. Why not make the garden of your life beautiful? Why not get rid of the things that cover up the things that really matter to you.
Give it a try. Forget purging and begin to prune. See where it takes you.

Oh no! When I read the title I took this completely the wrong way! I thought you were talking about getting rid of food in your body. OMG.
As for your article, it is an interesting way of looking at this. I think language says so much about the way we think!
