For those interested I do psychometric testing, particularly Woodcock Johnson COgnitive and Achievement, Bender Gestalt, and Iowa. I work mainly with Home Schoolers, but I have also worked with kids in the public school advocating for parents rights under and IEP or 504 plan, testing, and consulting. The testing I do is very thorough and helps to identify strengths and weaknesses in your child in areas like Language processing, Auditory skills, writing, processing speed, long term and short term memory, working memory, and basic academic knowledge. If you are interested send me a message. I’m in Kaysville Utah, but I have worked with people long distance via fax and phone as far away as Virginia and Washington State.
Hi Dina, thank you for posting. Great info and may I ask once we have this testing, what good will it do or where we go from here? Also, how old or how young can this benefit?
Welcome, Utahn.
The benifit is to literally see inside you child’s mind. See why he/she can read but not understand it later, or why it takes her so long to complete a task, or why she is so distractable, or why she has so much trouble with math. we use the info from the tests to strengthen her weaknesses by using her strengths and I help you identfiy possible placement or gifted possiblities. And if your child has an IEp or needs one I can help you understand your rights. If you homeschool I can direct you to more useful approaches based on the testing information. The tests can be done as young as 5 but I prefer to wait until 7 for the best results and up to adult age 99.
Thanks for the question!
Thanking for replying. My son has an IEP and he is 17. I don’t think he would be graduating from H.S. though he is way smart. He is ADHD. I will dig out the IEP and go from there with you.
