I’m getting ready to travel to Puerta Vallarta next week (yes Mexico!...I’ve been assured there are no swine flu issues in or around their city, so I’m going). Anyway...

I’ve got another gals getaway coming up, meeting up with some longtime colleagues and friends from years past, a reunion of sorts. But mostly on our agenda is hanging out at the beach and pool. I’ve never really been a “pool lounger” but that’s what this group of gals is all about. I’m very uncomfortable in a bathing suit, but of course will have to force myself to wear one most of this trip. So I want to pick out a couple for variety. But I’m so, shall we say, plump in the middle?! And can you say, thunder thighs?!!

I know of the wonderbra .. is there an equivalent for a wonder bathing suit? SOS, need some suggestions/advice please ladies!

      Have fun on your trip.

    • I bought a bathing suit top that I liked from Target. I didn’t realize until I got home is was maternity. But when I tried it on it looked awesome on me. SO it was a keeper. It was halter top style (I’m a 38DD), held up the girls and hid the middle. I wear it with just a normal bottom. But I also have board shorts. They are made to get wet and cover a lil more than a regular bottom.
You will be somewhere wonderful and fun..... focus on those and not your body.

    • Great idea from Vikki!

I have an issue with the thighs, too, as I have gained and lost soooo much weight and back issues keep me from excercising correctly.

I like the little skirt bottoms as they tend to hide some of that top thigh business. I also have no butt anymore, so that is masked, also!!

    • Uh Twink the no butt thing..... I think it’s our age....mine seems to be losing some of it’s curve..... unless it’s because I don’t live in a house with 37 steps anymore....hmmmmm

    • have you looked in to Lands End? They have a model program and you can create an image and then “try on” suits. They are all pretty modest, and I think this is rather helpful when selecting a suit.

I’ve always had the thighs, and no one makes a suit that hides them!

    • I have found that what has worked for me is an XXXXL or the largest size I can find in the plus size section works for me, the bigger it is the longer it is, WalMart has them in white and black in a sheer fabric for under $20.00

    • Rose I wish I had pearls of wisdom but I avoid bathing suits like the plague. Puts me in a cold sweat just thinking about wearing one.

    • Thanks ladies for the suggestions. I found one that I think I’ll feel ok in, it’s a one piece (of course) skirted bottom with a ruffled halter top. And took Vikki’s advice on the board shorts and separate top, that works well for me.
