So, I am behind in much of my writing and blogging...I am extremely sorry if you have missed my ramblings or maybe you didn’t even notice that I was gone...but it seems that mid-life has been kicking me in the pants as of late.
I have purposefully taken some time to slow down and focus in on myself....I was burning the candle at both ends for many months trying to get books written and finished; rewriting and rehearsing a new keynote speech and all the many things that take up my time in being a mother of five children.
It seems that my hormones are flucuating all over the chart(I am now on an HRT patch), my immune system was down( I have been sick with everything BUT the Swine Flu) AND now the doctor has found an unusual rhythm in my heart beat...so this Monday I am being fitted with a heart monitor that will read my heart 24/7 for the next two weeks...so, fashionable...what fun?!!
Oh, my gosh...I am 52 years old and most of my conversations revolve around what part of my body is acting up or giving out...Please dear God...this wasn’t supposed to happen till I was 80...Right?!!
So along with my new heart monitor friend...I will be adding back a better diet, walking and I quit smoking for the final time three months ago!
SO...if you don’t see me here at Fab40 writing and blogging...ranting and raving...just know that I am okay...I am just getting fitted for my Run About Chair, meeting with my new gal pals at the Assisted Living, playing BINGO and trying to decide if I should use Depends or Serenity.
MidLife Sucks...at least for tonight, while I am able to think about it...Oh, yeah...I have been so forgetful lately....Where am I again?
Knott’s Landing? Are you Joan Van Ark’s daughter? Quite the resemblance! You are beautiful...
Now, chin up darling. You are going to be around a long time. This is God tapping on your shoulder, saying “Please slow down“. And if you don’t believe in God, consider it’s the Universe telling you the same thing...
Relax, breathe slowly.... we are all pulling for you and we are right here.... you are fine.
Great blog... good sense of humor.
Keep us posted.... please. :)
Blessings!

hey girl,
I recognize your pretty face, not sure of the name though. Just so you know you have been missed even in the midst of it all.
Midlife does suck even if it’s just tonight. I agree with you and I’m only 48.

“I can make it happen” It is whatever it is at the moment.
Glad that you are slowing down and taking care of yourself. Gosh girl, you‘re doing it all; writing, speaking and raising 5 children!
Hope all comes out well from the heart monitor thingy. Keep us posted. Warm and healing thoughts sent to you.
We all need to take some time to slow down and allow the healing powers to work. I came on after you took you leave from here so I haven’t had the opportunity to see your ranting and ravings—yet! I plan to check it out soon.
Keep the chin up... :)

Thanks for writing it, Amy. I am 52 and feeling like the crisis is just hitting me from all sides at ones. These bodies are such a pain in a butt sometimes... I took lessons in Tai Chi Chih, it’s a veeery slow and easier version of Tai Chi. Even though I don’t practice each day (of course...) it helps me in tough situations mentally to slow down.
I hope the other gals are right and we all will get through it!

Amy,
I can relate to everything you‘re going through. My hormones are on a roller coaster ride and it reaches the top about every 45 minutes!

Honey it’s huge club ... I’ve now called them power surges - either I vomit vile sentences as I want to murder folk as my patience has gone completely or I feel like my batteries die mid task and I crave sleep or I feel like I can conquer the world .......
I’m so fed up of it ......retirement can’t come quick enough

....and I thought I was alone in this mess! Thank you for letting me know I’m not crazy.
Give the patch a try and see if it doesn’t help. I have been using it for almost two years and it seems to help with mood swings and hot flashes.
Also, keep a collection of breakables you really don’t like and every once in a while pitch one of them! (I have a family member who swears by this!)She follows up (after cleaning up the mess) with a glass of wine. God, I love family!
Hang in there- we are all either going through it or will soon!
Oh, dear! Well, as you can see, Amy, you are in good company! And yes, I’ve noticed your absence, but I was hoping it was due to much more exciting things!
You can commiserate with us anytime! No need to wait for a blog.
Blessings,
