Let’s say I break into your house

A lady wrote the best letter in the Editorials in ages!!! It explains things better than all the baloney you hear on TV.

Her point:
Recently large demonstrations have taken place across the country protesting the fact that Congress is finally addressing the issue of illegal immigration.
Certain people are angry that the US might protect its own borders, might make it harder to sneak into this country and, once here, to stay indefinitely.
Let me see if I correctly understand the thinking behind these protests.
Let’s say I break into your house.
Let’s say that when you discover me in your house, you insist that I leave.
But I say, ‘No! I like it here. It’s better than my house. I’ve made all the beds and washed the dishes and did the laundry and swept the floors. I’ve done all the things you don’t like to do. I’m hard-working and honest (except for when I broke into your house).

According to the protesters:
You are Required to let me stay in your house, You are Required to feed me, You are Required to add me to your family’s insurance plan, You are Required to Educate my kids, You are Required to Provide other benefits to me & to my family.
My husband will do all of your yard work because he is also hard-working and honest. (except for that breaking in part).

If you try to call the police or force me out, I will call my friends who will picket your house carrying signs that proclaim my RIGHT to be there.

It’s only fair, after all, because you have a nicer house than I do, and I’m just trying to better myself. I’m a hard-working and honest, person, except for well, you know, I did break into your house
And what a deal it is for me!!!

I live in your house, contributing only a fraction of the cost of my keep, and there is nothing you can do about it without being accused of cold, uncaring, selfish, prejudiced, and bigoted behavior. Oh yeah, and I DEMAND that you learn MY LANGUAGE!!! so that you can communicate with me.

Why can’t people see how ridiculous this is?!  America is populated and governed by idiots.

    • WoW! That certainly gives it a different perspective. Not that I am one of those protesters but I love this take on it.

    • I wonder who does her yard wrk and cleans her house and keep her highways clean etc.

Now I am all for you are in my Country you speak my language! To become a citizen the test should have to be taken in English. And no more press1 for english, 2 for spanish etc.

If I move to France, I would learn how the speak French.

For me, this is a tough subject. I’ve known some ‘illegals’ from places all over the world. I would much rather have them in my neighborhood then some of the ‘citizens’ I know.

One of these amazing women took care of my dying gma for years, then took care of my gpa after gma died. Was with him when he died. He stayed much longer on this earth because of her. Then after all of this our govt shipped her back home. Sorry, but this wonderful woman should have a red carpet to stay. IMO!!!!

    • I don’t know, I have mixed feelings about things like this. Sometimes I don’t care or mind and other times I am mad and do care. The times I get mad Is when someone walks up to me and starts speaking spanish and I let them know In a nice way that I speak very little spanish, and they get pissed off at ME! Hellooooooo!!! why are you getting pissed off at me for knowing my lanquage and not yours? Thats when I get mad, cause not only did they get pissed at me but then they walk off mumbling crap In spanish and I do understand the bad words mind you. Sometimes I just want to say go back home, don’t come here and get pissed at me and act like I owe you!

    • For those that bring their rich culture here legally and try to blend and enrich those around them... they should be applauded. If they (whoever they is btw) choice to not speak english that is their choice and I’m ok with that just as it’s my choicenot to learn a language other than the one I know.
As for illegals I understand they want a better life and I would be more than willing to help them but by golly I can’t get grants for my own kids for college. If we can’t provide for those that are here legally we really shouldn’t be able to provide for those who aren’t here legally.

      BTW I come in peace!
