What's Wrong with This Picture?

Have you ever just looked at a situation and thought-Really? Doesn't anyone else see that there's something wrong with this picture?

Such it was for me this week.

By now, most of you know I'm very diligent when it comes to my diet and exercise, so when I got off my treadmill on Monday, I was a tad bit "pissed off" when I felt an all too familiar "twinge" of extreme pain.

It was my sciatica. And it didn't stop there. Of course not, why should it?

I took my physical therapy rubber band and proceeded to do my prescribed exercises for my shoulders and neck when all of a sudden-I scared poor Pepper out of my desk chair with a blood curdling scream.

My shoulder blade was on fire-on the same side as the sciatica.

Now I couldn't take a breath-deep or otherwise without seeing stars, literally.

The thought that went through my mind? Thank goodness I-A) finished my 3 miles and B) Thank goodness the next day was my rheumatologist appointment.

Stupid painkiller didn't even take the edge off. There was no sleeping on my half of the bed. No, that's a lie. Pepper snored as loud as my husband. It was just me who didn't sleep. Breathing was eluding me as well.

Next morning I stood under a hot shower trying to get my body to move, my stiff trigger thumb and pointer finger to release and get dressed during the extended "spasm" session in my foot.

Oh yes, Tuesday was a real hoot. Got to my rheumy appointment. I must have looked even worse than I felt-he just looked at me and said "let's start at the top and work down today, shall we?" You know you're in trouble when your doctor isn't sounding very positive.

He decided since I couldn't sit or breathe, he'd start with a shot of steroids right in the old sciatic nerve. Then he upped dosages on some of my meds, ordered x-rays and sent in a referral for a hand surgeon.

Yes, it seems that the problem with my hand was one that could definitely be surgically corrected, "And let's face it, with all you've got going on, let's at least go for what we can easily fix."

I'm all for it. I had already burned myself twice due to the two digits deciding to rein in their sinew and how can I write if I have 2/3's of a hand that won't bend?

Besides all of this, I brought up the little annoyance of having sores in my mouth due to one of the drugs.

Did you know that because of its toxicity, it was causing me to have an adult version of thrush????

WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS PICTURE?????

I am one of the few people who eat healthy 99% of the time, exercise 5-6 days a week, FOR REAL and still have more issues than some of the people on the Learning Channel's "My 600 pound Life"!

Next, I came home and finally got some food and coffee. Had too, how else was I going to take all those "helpers"? I followed my morning fun by finding out that my "inbox" deleted the third important item of the week.

Remember the Judith Viorst children's book, "Alexander and the No Good, Terrible, Very Bad Day"?

I've decided to write my own version:

CARINE AND HER SERIOUSLY, WHAT'S WRONG WITH THIS PICTURE YEAR?
